Blacklist certainly wasn't bad, but it really didn't have anything substantial to drag people in.

it's a pretty good Splinter Cell game all things considered, they just marketed it poorly. it's definitely the best one since Chaos Theory, and maybe even surpasses it in a couple of missions (like the last one, god damn that was really fun)
This is a huge problem with the games industry, as it has been with other business sectors before it.
$1.4 billion should not be a disappointing figure. Ever.
Marketing and the cost of development should really be handled a lot better.
What a shame. Rayman Legends was fucking brilliant.
Damned unfortunate. I can't speak for Splinter Cell but Rayman Legends is a total masterpiece.

The only really issues were that it was just too restrictive and linear much of the time and there were some parts that tried to push the combatkilleverything side. Some of the best missions ended up being Grim's missions and [sp]Kobin's[/sp] missions. Grim's were my favorite personally because they were pretty much all about stealth, and as long as you didn't set off an alert, you could approach the objectives from a lot of different angles and in different ways. To me, it seemed to play a lot like Deus Ex: Human Revolution actually, although a bit more linear (excluding Hub zones since there is no real fair comparison in Blacklist).
The customization was also fun as well, though if you just did the side missions first then farmed one side mission a bit you could easily pull in a ton of money and get basically all the best gear in the game before doing the second mission, negating the need to touch any of the other weapons or armor (I had the stealth suit and the prototype weapons before doing the third mission actually).
I hope Rayman Legends sales pick up around the christmas season.
