Be interesting to see I guess. But I'm taking it all with a grain of salt..
I'm just hoping for one of these games to actually have zombies that aren't total shit.
I would prefer mutants or something shit like in the STALKER series.
I would prefer mutants or something shit like in the STALKER series.
I completely agree. Would be amazing to worry about blood suckers hunting you down
“Zombies can be anywhere. We can spawn hordes live.” Meaning your fort could be attacked from the inside...
Ehhh
I went to high school with Smedley's kid. So whenever I see his name attached to this project I get fairly confused.
Oh my god this game is worse then hitler, Calling it a WarZ clone would be a disgrace for WarZ. They've put no effort at all info it. Don't get me wrong I fucking love open world zombie games, I get excited when they get announced but this one is just plain bad.
How can you tell?
I've seen about 30 minutes of gameplay, Gunplay is terrible/zombies are terrible and vehicles seem to be terrible. No deep gameplay (Fuel requirements for vehicles ect) This all could change, or maybe they didn't show it in the video. But it looked awful. [editline]20th April 2014[/editline] Some random gameplay in here
Open world survival fps seem to be going nowhere and this does not look anymore promising than DayZ or WarZ.
you do realise that its hardly even a game at this point, they even say that its more of a prototype to gauge interest
It's another one of those early access games, They plan to release it about a month from now. Honestly, It won't change all that much from it's current state. Core elements like the gun system ect all look like shit. I mean I hope this will be an amazing game, But everything points towards a big heap of shit.
My dream game is literally I Am Legend. Is that so difficult? Goddamn.

Early access is only a problem if you make it a problem, remember, you don't have to buy the game or anything whilst it's still in pre-release. if you do decide to play it and hate it, that's your problem and your fault for knowingly playing an incomplete game. It has time to change still, but it doesn't sound like they want to go for the xXx~~harDc0r£~xXx that a lot of these survival games wish they could actually be. They seem to be trying to strike a balance between arcade fun and realism.

They explained in a livestream that the early access build is REALLY fucking early and virtually nothing at all is concrete. Since it's their own in-house engine they can tinker with all sorts of shit, it also helps that they've been reaching out to the community ever since they announced the game to provide suggestions on game features and how they should monetize it. If they keep this attitude up I can't see it going too badly, especially since from the sounds of things they won't be out of early access for over a year at least.

I'm not a pessimist, And I'm a complete sucker for all open world zombie games. But I'm just being realistic here. Out of all the games I've judged that were in very early stages I've never once seen one that made me go "Oh this game is actually pretty good" Now I'm not saying I'm some sort of fucking psychic but my judgement has never betrayed me. Maybe other people found the games fun and I'm sure there will be lots of people who enjoy this game, and that's great! But from the way this is looking it won't be good at all. But we'll see that as time goes.
the thing is, this is being made by an actual developer with funding, not an indie dev with overly ambitious ideas, thats where the key difference between this and dayz/rust lies
what's your definition of indie? As far as I'm concerned, Bohemia and FP too are developers. With funding, and dev teams. The thing is, there's way too many unfinished open world sandbox zombie survival games - there's a huge chance that the genre will simply become overdone before any proper title releases properly.
It has potential to be good, but at the same time it's SOE. If I recall correctly they aren't very well known for having good f2p models.
It better have the zombies be an actual threat. Because if they're not, players will not work together and it becomes rust/day Z/whatever RDM all day long.
Ehhh
If players can be infected and have a turning period, that could be fun. Like you'd be able to visibly see them turn so you can react but the infected player can still try to keep it hidden with clothing or something. Anything but zombies randomly spawning in your own fucking fort
It has potential to be good, but at the same time it's SOE. If I recall correctly they aren't very well known for having good f2p models.
Don't they run Planetside 2? That's got a good payment model. Though you're right, in the past they were less good, not game breakingly P2W but definitely an annoyance.
dayz is pretty much beyond unplayable, regardless of how great the idea is so i really do hope they can pull off something cool with H1Z1 but i have next to no faith in them
Unfortunately, Smedley also said that there are currently no female characters in the game. But “they will for sure be added however in a short timeframe (I can't say for sure when yet).”
Jesus... Who cares... Also anyone remember that zombie mmo from a while ago that failed? Totally forget the name but it was a very unique name
dayz is pretty much beyond unplayable, regardless of how great the idea is so i really do hope they can pull off something cool with H1Z1 but i have next to no faith in them
I hate it when people make retarded statements like this as it is completely untrue and a stupid way of thinking. Dayz is easily playable and very fun for many people but it has very clunky controls that hinders the experience. It is not like they are ignoring it either they are actively trying to make it better as on the experimental servers they have Fixed mouse acceleration one of peoples biggest complaints about Dayz and everyone that has played on these servers says Dayz is a far better experience now. This will make turning the same as H1Z1 rather than the clunky way Dayz does currently on stable servers. People who call Dayz an unplayable experience are just ignorant pricks with a stick shoved up their ass because they are making it on the engine similar to Arma 2. Within a few weeks the patch will be released to stable servers and Dayz will be a far more playable and enjoyable game and I cannot wait. This update also brings physics for throwing items as well as bows and arrows.
lol people teleporting through walls, which isn't something that is going to be fixed and is way worse than it was in the mod, is playable to you? how about the horrible and unrealistic gunplay that has only gotten worse since release of EA? good luck hitting anyone with an arrow or thrown item when they're teleporting around and the systems in themselves dont work well for arrows or thrown items
Yeah objectively you're completely right, Dayz is pretty damn unplayable with teleporting, random deaths and glitching (Not to mention hacker) But if you're really into the concept and are willing to look further then the glitches then it's truly a great game. I've sunken more then 500 hours into DayZ (SA and Mod). Not to mention there's a HUUUUGE fucking sign telling you the game isn't a final product at all, that's it's full of game breaking shit ect ect
I am so over zombies, and I will never listen to anything Smedley says
lol people teleporting through walls, which isn't something that is going to be fixed and is way worse than it was in the mod, is playable to you? how about the horrible and unrealistic gunplay that has only gotten worse since release of EA? good luck hitting anyone with an arrow or thrown item when they're teleporting around and the systems in themselves dont work well for arrows or thrown items
Dayz has many problems but calling it Pretty much unplayable is further from the truth and completely unnecessarily. The game is playable and the devs are trying to make the game a better experience. Fixing mouse acceleration is a HUGE bonus in the games favor as it directly improves the experience of the game and shows that the devs are doing what they can to make the game more enjoyable. Complaining about teleporting when it is a relatively new bug and has been majorly fixed considering when it first came about it happened every 3 minutes and is now at least 30 minutes between it happening shows that the devs are trying to get rid of it since it first showed up. The physics system is not even officially in the game yet and will be something worked on over time so I don't see why you are even bothering to complain about that. I don't really see what is that bad about gun play and considering mouse acceleration is gone it will be better now. Teleporting through walls is something that can be fixed and will be done by release. Dean has stated that he does not see things like this as important right now and will get it sorted later. It is a prominent bug and should be moaned about rightfully so as I do think it ruins the game. ---- If you are not going to read the above then at least read the below I don't mind people complaining about Dayz having problems but calling it unplayable is an insult to the devs and treating them like they are EA releasing a game that is broken and not doing shit to fix it when these guys are actively trying to fix the bugs with Dayz and make the game a better experience. This game and the devs don't deserve the shit they get from people like you when they are actually trying to make a good game. Nobody gives this game praise when they fix something that was bad and instead be ignorant and just complain about other existing bugs and slag off the game like they don't give a shit and this is the attitude I am tired of as the devs simply don't deserve this treatment.
i pretty much started to label these kinda games as RDMA-WZ (Random deathmatch arena - with zombies) as you can`t trust people NOT to kill each other
