How do you shave: do you shave with a can of gooey stuff and a multi bladed cartridge razor, or do you shave with the art of wet shaving,
You are probably asking what the fuck is wet shaving, I'll teach you the art of wet shaving then.
First of all wet shaving is different for a few reasons. You are not going to be using a can of goo for shaving lather and possibly not cartridge based razors. You are going to take more time to get a baby butt smooth face with less irritation. That along with different shaving equipment that is godly in its own right.
A badger hair brush to make lather.

And shaving cream

One thing I forgot that in order to make it a real nice wet shave scenario we need to have a Double Edge Safety Razor.

First of all instead of just waking up and taking a shower and spraying goo on your hands, you actually have to take a little time with it.
Step one:
There are two ways of doing a wet shave prep.
Method No.1
You take a shower and you wash everything including your face. Use a little conditioner on your face if you want to. But the strengthening kind makes it a bit harder to shave with I think.
Method No.2
Make some lather with your brush and shave soap/cream, apply it then take a nice hot moist towel to the shaving area and lather hold it up there for a bout a minute. **how to make lather is explained in step two.
Step two:
IF you had already made your lather disregard this step and go onto step 3.
Okay take your shaving brush and run some hot water over it and soak it a little, shake out extra water.
There are a few methods to doing this so choose one that fits you the best.
You can either swirl the brush in the soap or cream for 3 seconds or so, or put an almond sized portion in a cup or something. Either way have a cup or something around just in case.
Method No.1: Using your cup to make lather.
Get a cup stupid and get some shave cream or soap on the brush or in the cup. With the somewhat soaked brush swish it around in the cup to make a nice lather, add a little bit of water at a time if the lather is looking too dry or isn't quite lathering up. Apply to the face when nice and creamy looking.
Method No.2: Using your hand to make lather.
Either way have the soap/cream in your hand or swirled on your brush, with your hand make a nice flat surface and work the brush in your palm and shit. Apply when nice and creamy looking.
Method No.3: Using your face to make lather.
Using either way to make lather mentioned in steps one and two take your brush and basic-ly just take it to your face and make lather there. Stop when you have a creamy looking lather.
Nice and lathered up good.
Now for shaving with your shitty cartridge razor, or your godly DE Razor.
Step 3: Now how to shave with a DE Razor.
There are a few techniques and such but the advanced stuff is left for later.
One thing before you begin, we will talk about shaving with the grain or shaving across or even against the grain. How to tell either way, just take your hand and rub it across your face. If you rub one way and you fell the prickle of the hair then you are going against the grain, if you go the other way you are going with the grain. Tips: keep your wrist locked when you get the angle, and do not race about your face. Hold the razor like a dart, as if you were to be playing a game of darts. And if you nick yourself do not worry there are ways to fix it.
Pass No.1: Shave with the Grain of your hair.
Now before you begin you should try the DE Razor out on how to hold the razor and blade against your skin, usually thirty degrees should do it if not go a bit steeper until you feel the blade. As the title of the step says shave with the grain not against it. Two passes or more is okay but make sure you do with the grain first. IF you do not get a good shave do not worry you'll get the technique down in about a week.
Pass No. 2: Shave across the Grain.
Take your razor and go horizontal to the grain one pass.
Pass No. 3: Shave against the grain.
Just like pass No. 1 except go the other way against the grain. If you do not get it all you can got at it again untill you get what you want, but do not over do it or you will get razor burn.
Pass No. 4: advanced shaving techniques.
I'll let this mantic59 guy show you rather than just me telling you.

Step 4: Cleaning your lathery face off.
Using warm water splash your face with it, then use cold water to close up the pores and stop some bleeding if there is any. Dry off now with a patting motion with a hand towel. Then use after shave to get rid of any lather that may be left.
While I did go in depth about wet shaving I may not have covered all the points so this youtube guy is going to give you more in depth detail and visual aids to help you better understand the topic.

www.amazon.com Is also a place to look for wet shaving stuff.
Are you asking why you should try this out. If you haven't watched the mantic59 videos yet you should. As for me I like it because it is something better than having to pay out the ass for the cartridges and shaving goo, and that I like the classiness of wet shaving. Did I mention that I get baby butt smooth face every time that I shave now, with out extreme amounts of irritation.
And one thing this is my first mega post so don't be cruel to me.
Most of the people on Facepunch don't shave yet anyways.
So what I learned here is to apply a tiny amount of shaving cream and use the razor as fast as I can.
Pfft, shaving is for girly boys!!
i did what u sed and this happened
gross

Wet shaving. Why in the name of god did I expect something dirty?
Way to much work when I can do something a shit load simplier for the same effect.
Fuck.
I thought something else
Uh.
Why not just shave normally whilst showering?
I've shaved with your listed equipment before. Takes more time than needed and doesn't give any better results anyways.
Well then you can shave in the shower if you want to, just tweak it a little bit.
I thought the reason for shaving cream was to dry out the skin, which tightens it and makes hairs stick out more. and then ontop creates a glide surface for the blade?
Double edge safety razors are crap, get a straight razor and then you can get the best shave possible.

it does give better results if done properly.
however, it does take much longer. personally i don't want to spend too long shaving when i've just woken up and have places to be.
i got a straight razor shave from my barber last time i went in to get my hair cut, you really do get a very close shave if it's done properly.
Gillette ftw!
Edit: Also does anyone use a barber knife? i've heard they are really the best
Well then you can shave in the shower if you want to, just tweak it a little bit.
I just don't see the reason to buy all sorts of equipment for something you can do with normal shaving gel and any razor out on the market.
A Gilette Fusion and some Gilette shaving gel and you're set to go, a clean smooth shave that feels good.
it does give better results if done properly.

You can get a shave so close that it's beyond not feeling any hair on the skin at all and just gliding through it?

All I shave with is a straight razor. I never let that quad blade stuff touch my face
It takes more time but will give a much better result if done properly
Either I've done it wrong or else you guys suck at shaving :v: (I don't even understand how some people manage to get all these bumps and cuts on their face after shaving)
Exactly how does it result in a better result?
Fuck wet shaving and any other acoustic shaving procedure. If you use an electric shaver diurnally, there is no need for any of that crap because electric razors are painless as long as the facial hair doesn't accumulate by length.

Electric shavers are bothersome. You have to run over the same damn spot 5-8 times before it's got everything.
With a razor you go over it once or twice and it's gone.

Well, for me, when I shave with a straight razor I get a very, very close shave. Closer than anything I get with a disposable or electric razor. My skin is smoother, it takes longer for the hair to grow back, which means I have to shave less. I also only have to do one pass over an area to get off all the hair, when I use the triple or quad blade shavers I have to do 2 maybe 3 passes until I get all the hair off. Also, I guess I'm just used to shaving with the straight razor and I prefer over others.

Electric shavers rip the hair out of your face at the same time it cuts it which causes a lot of irritation and redness. You may think you're getting a close shave, but you really aren't.
What is with all these gels and creams. I just pour warm water on my face and shave, and it turns out fine.
I just stick a mirror in my shower and shave while a bathe.
I just stick a mirror in my shower and shave while a bathe.
I do this but I don't even use a mirror. v:v:v
I dip my razor in water then shave my facial hair. No cuts or anything.
The fuck is this shaving cream stuff? Why don't I just light my money on fire instead?
I love thorough shaves, but I never have enough time.
I usually only do it for special occasions.
BAZ:
I thought the reason for shaving cream was to dry out the skin, which tightens it and makes hairs stick out more. and then ontop creates a glide surface for the blade?
If that is so then I did not know that.
DGG.
There are different people with different beard types and different skin types. So if the regular modern razors that have cartridges that you have to pay out the ass for suits then it suits you. But I do like something that takes skill that and I only have to pay about 10 dollars for 100 blades, and each blade could last a week.
The Riddler:

The problem with electrics is that you have to go over the same place again and again. That and it can possibly cause skin irritation and such.
Here is something big to note. People are different with beards and skin types. Some just have different tastes like me for example, I could use my Gillette Fusion but I rather use my Merkur DE Razor.
Dry razor against bare skin.
Manly man!
Most of the time I use a small handheld hedge trimmer, get that good clean cut look.

Shaving while taking a shower

FUCK YEAH!!
Quad blade user here. I have been planning to go for a straight razor for a while mainly because it is much more cost effective, and honing the blade would make me feel like more of a man.
