• New Rig won't start. Power supply clicks then does nothing.

so after buying one of the builds as suggested by this thread: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1047357-600-800-Budget-Build-What-Would-Be-Best, and then building it, I attempted to start it up so I can set up the BIOS and install an OS, but I can't even get that far. I push the power button and the Power Supply just clicks for a second, then nothing happens. I checked the connections, the mobo's LED lights up so it IS getting some power, but still, I just get some clicks from the PSU when trying to turn on the computer, and that's it. Here's the rig I bought, but replace the RAM and HD with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820144461&cm_re=geil_4gb-_-20-144-461-_-Product&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3640869&SID=skim629X1198 and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185&cm_re=samsung_F3-_-22-152-185-_-Product&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3640869&SID=skim629X1198 respectively. So, what do you think, FP? Should I buy a new PSU, or is this one of those PSUs that take a while to actually supply power to the PC so I should wait a bit before turning it on and trying to mess with it. Again, I checked all the connections and the mobo's LED light does turn on signifying that it's getting some power.
Try the paperclip test http://www.overclock.net/faqs/96712-how-jump-start-power-supply-psu.html if it clicks when you do that, it's DOA; if not, we'll continue from their... If it's broken just RMA it and wait! Or buy another one and RMA it and use that PSU later in some other build when it finally returns.
I did the paperclip test. It clicks, but then I hear the fan beginning to whirr (barely, but that's an advertised feature, silent fans). That doesn't sound like a DOA to me. Still, the fan didn't work when I just tried turning the computer on, so it might be something else. Which reallt scares me because it might not be something that can be easily replaced! I don't want to have to fuck with another mobo! EDIT: oh hey, me and my dad fucked around with it and now it works! we just set up the BIOS and we're now installing Win7. Thanks.
