So my brothers laptop got sat on, breaking the screen so i hooked up my spare monitor to it and when i right click and go to screen resolution, mine (1280x960) wasnt there.

Instead of duplicating displays you would chose extend these displays. this is because the monitor on the laptop does not support that resolution.

Fuck me for not reading. use show desktop only on 2.
I choose extend displays and then i greys out resolution and its stuck on 1280x768.
