A tunnel is set to be built under Stonehenge to relieve one of Britain’s most traffic-congested roads. Seems like a pretty roundabout solution. Why not just put a tent over Stonehenge?
I've been through there a few times, its awful.
I wonder if the tunnel will last as long as stonehenge
Notice how the tunnel has 4 entrances, but no exit. It's going to be a sacrificial tunnel.
This sounds like a bad idea, I'd imagine with the amount of stuff around the henge they'll hit an artifact trove every 5 minutes
Seems like a pretty roundabout solution. Why not just put a tent over Stonehenge?
Because the idea isn't to hide Stonehenge from everyone?
Because the idea isn't to hide Stonehenge from everyone?
Yeah, it's just not to make them look at it!
Knocking it down would be a cheaper solution really
Yeah, it's just not to make them look at it!
While driving, yeah.
Watch it take 20 years due to repeated stoppages associated with additional artifact discoveries.
It's great knowing that this will confuse future generations.
Could they not just put up a wall at the side of the road with Stonehenge on it?
Watch it take 20 years due to repeated stoppages associated with additional artifact discoveries.
There will only be stoppages if they find something related to building structure (they very likely will find remains of wooden structures depending how far they dig down), anything like handheld tools and that wont stop them, the archaeological teams will just work at the same pace the builders do, sorting stuff from the rubble and dig site.
Could they not just put up a wall at the side of the road with Stonehenge on it?
to be honest that would look fucking disgusting.
Why not just put a really expensive toll booth on the road and make tons of money instead of trying to hide it?
Why not just put a really expensive toll booth on the road and make tons of money instead of trying to hide it?
You would still need a diversion though, and we don't really have toll roads in the UK
Watch them hit some sort of ancient reactor complex underneath.
to be honest that would look fucking disgusting.
True, a large hedge would look better.
No they're going about this all wrong. If they really want drivers to not look at Stonehenge, they should invest in one of these. From Russia with love.
Just turn stonehenge into a roundabout
Turn the entire country into a roundabout.
As a pagan, this is effecting my religious rights. Please build a tunnel that goes all the way to london and make it one way.
Turns out there is an evil monster under stonehenge which the stones were designed to keep at bay but because of the tunnel it releases it and condemn the world to a millenia of darkness just so the Nigel can get to his board meeting a little sooner. Fucking Nigel.
I thought that underneath stonehenge there was a ton of artifacts and stuff. Wouldn't this possibly damage that stuff?
Expect any artifacts under stonehendge to be obliterated.
Expect any artifacts under stonehendge to be obliterated.
This thing always impresses me simply because we've basically taken a massive, earth moving process and pretty much automated it.

Am I the only one who can see this going terribly wrong and destroying the Stonehenge if the tunnel was to ever collapse?
