• Is there any way to improve my internet speeds?

I can't change my ISP, so I'm basically stuck on Time Warner. That is a horrible upload... I am on WiFi, but the speed doesn't change when I'm on an ethernet cable according to my last test. Let me test again. That was on my ethernet cable... Is there ANYTHING I can do? Would it help if I jumped my router and just plugged my cable into the modem when I'm online alone at night? No one else is drawing on the network right now, so I'm stumped as to why we're getting speeds this slow when we payed for 25 up/down...
Try different servers, the one you have there might be overloaded. If the results are consistent, call the ISP if you're supposed to be getting those speeds. Personally, I think you're on a lower tier than you think you're on.
This is to the one in Los Angeles. I've talked to Time Warner, I'm apparently on their highest tier and have their "Speed Boost" also.
no, you pay for 25mbs, but you won't get it unless you have a direct line(Fios) and/or no one is on the network, That seems about average, ping is a bit high, you might want to set up some QoS or port forwarding for games.
So why can't you switch ISPs?
Because Verizon isn't in my area, and Time Warner is the only company that is here basically.
Like everyone else has said, check to see what tier you have, remember that mbits are 1/8th of mbytes and realize that the United States has horrible upload speeds in general. If Cox is available in your area I highly recommend their services though. I'm on the 2nd lowest tier and I get very decent speeds.

I would also love to see if I can convince Time Warner that I run a business and get business class which is a lot faster.

Not in Syracuse, New York. Sadly... :saddowns:
You can also try resetting your modem. If you don't believe me it works for me, because I do it once at the end of each month and my speed jumps back to 21 MBPS.
Reset my router and modem. But with the amount of traffic on my network per day I'm gonna end up having to do this daily...

I meant the amount of traffic going out and coming in. By myself I average upload/download of 100 gigs a day. That's just on this machine. I don't know about my iPhone/bedside computer or my parents iPhones and computers. Plus I use my Xbox for 4-6 hours a day. Edit: Not 200, 100... mistype. lol
i have time warner also, upload speeds are complete shit., though i have 30mb/s download i have like . 50kbps upload, its ridiculous.
Better than mine. If using wireless, you can use tinfoil to help the antennae if it's omni-directional (Sends a signal in all directions). However, you shouldn't get better speeds with wireless than with ethernet unless it's a really fucking long ethernet or you have a very low quality cable (Unlikely). You should set-up some QoS or port-forwarding to fix that. Edit: Not to mention my ISP got rid of their 25mb/s plan. I'm assuming I'm on their 10mb/s plan (I share internet) because it goes Lite (1mb/s) for like $20/month, 10mb/s for $57/month, then the next one is 50mb/s at $107 and 100mb/s at $157. Geez. Why is there no in-between?

[img_thumb]http://www.speedtest.net/result/1211076297.png[/img_thumb] This is the crap I gotta deal with. Its roadrunners cheapest service for intarwebz, and I'm kinda surprised that .97Mb/s upload is so common. Mind you I'm in Florida, testing to New York.
I lose. I have an ISP that has an F+. It ain't dial-up, either. It's saddening.
the connections super stable, and they dont throttle
I lose for upload :( My speed actually goes up to 0.35 then suddenly gets capped to that
So far I think I win, although my ISP is shit and you should never switch to them. If its available in your area switch to Verizon. But since you cant change your ISP, not much you can do.

Anyways, Comcast isn't shit depending on where you live and the service you receive. I for one have nothing but good things to say about them. I have great DL speeds of up to 4.0Mbs on Steam DL so I'm not complaining, I also never receive that random net drop a lot of people get. I wish I could show you my Speedtest, then we would see who would be winning.

Also Comcast is utter trash, changing my plan without letting me know, over charging for retarded shit, throttling bandwidth for no reason. They are the best available in my area though and they have a low price compared to everyone else.
And I'm happy I get this.
I'm extremely content with my connection, although uploading files are a pain in the ass. Unmetered.
ISP's should really think about upload speed as much as they do with download speed.
