Rep. Tom Price, the Georgia Republican and physician picked by President-elect Donald Trump to oversee the health and availability of essential human services to all Americans, belongs to a medical association whose unconventional views are certain to raise questions during his confirmation hearings next year.
Trump nominated Price, re-elected last month to a seventh term, to become secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.
An orthopedic surgeon, he is a member of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, whose 5,000 members consider the group a nonpartisan professional organization dedicated to “preserving the sanctity of the patient-physician relationship and the practice of private medicine.”
It has long been at odds with mainstream medical groups, and critics say it promotes scientifically discredited theories, including that abortion causes breast cancer and that vaccines can cause serious disabilities.
In 2005 the association accused immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally of causing a spike in leprosy cases. It was subsequently debunked.
It was also one of the groups that sued to force the release the names of those on then-first lady Hillary Clinton’s health care task force in the 1990s. In 2003, the group filed an amicus brief for the public release of photos taken of former Clinton administration deputy counsel Vincent Foster following his 1993 suicide.

The medical group was founded in 1943 by members of the American Medical Association who opposed the “socialization of medicine in America.” Its members mostly opposed Medicare, a federal medical assistance program for the elderly, and the group runs seminars for doctors who want to “opt out” of the program.
It also opposes Medicaid, a federal-state medical program for the poor. In its “Principles of Medical Ethics,” the association refers to the 1965 law that created the two assistance programs, saying “the effect of the law is evil and participation in carrying out its provisions is, in our opinion, immoral.”
The association’s attitude toward the government is similar to its approach to the insurance industry, which it blames for rising health care costs. Many of its members, though how many is unclear, don’t participate in third party coverage, requiring cash as payment for their services. They say it lowers costs.

glad to see he's replacing the swamp he's drained with a swampier swamp
I've already caught malaria from this new swamp.

How the shit would that even work.
I hope trump voters are proud of themselves
I hope trump voters are proud of themselves
Quite a few of them were certain that Hillary would lead to war with Russia, so they're probably still sure this is better than that
glad to see he's replacing the swamp he's drained with a swampier swamp
Trump's going to drain the swamp by starting a tsunami, until the entirety of the nation is submerged and of which no part is particularly more deep or shallow than the other, and the word loses its purpose and thus meaning.
Like getting rid of shadows by destroying all of the lights.

Wowee, according to this guy giving medical help to those who lack the means to provide it for themselves is evil!
What kind of environment do these people live in where they can say that helping others to not fucking die is an evil thing
How can humans be such garbage members of their own species that they think that the old and poor should die from the most easily treated ailments

so they're a bunch of rich pricks who have never seen a hospital bill then.

You think we're proud of this? Nuh uh, no, you ain't going to do that.

you chose this
you chose this
Don't be ridiculous, I didn't choose this. I chose him for something else, but definitely not this. Your hasty generalizations here are not fair and not just.

I hope every day with this guy as prez brings you a little closer to enlightenment

I don't particularly care if you picked him for other reasons or not my dude. You still picked this vapid ballsack of a human being, you should have been aware of the baggage associated with him.
Fucking over your country's poorest through lack of healthcare, deregulation of industry and environmental protection laws being uprooted alone should have been big indicators the guy was a fucking problem.
You asked for this. This is your reward.
Hey guys, look on the bright side. He could've picked Martin Shkreli.
A really, really poor pick for Health, Trump. I really don't want the US to go backwards in terms of health, when we are in desperate need of healthcare reform, but I guess there's no choice now.

Out of curiosity, what were your reasons for voting for him? What did you hope for and now that things aren't looking good in your opinion what are you thinking now?
isn't threatening to even touch medicare one of the surefire ways to get old people to hate you

You got tricked by the biggest, most obvious, and most protested con on U.S. soil, ever.
Try harder in 4 years.
The swamp has been replaced with pure necrotic ooze from the negative energy plane.
Hey guys, look on the bright side. He could've picked Martin Shkreli.
...I think I'd rather have him actually.

I was hoping that Trump would have been the figure to catch the economics up. I thought one way of doing this is closing this wage gap. I believed if we were to increase other progresses such as technology without having stabilize this wage gap, we wouldn't just be getting rid of dangerously powerful corporations, we would ultimately create new ones. However, I was expecting him to be more of the "Big Stick" sort of ideology, such as taxes for manufacturing out of the country and such, not to be in corporate interests and deregulate some restrictions.
Idk how trump supporters are like "Whaaat? How could this possibly have happened?" when literally everyone saw this coming and predicted this to a T months ago
Psycheclops, a LOT of people are going to start jumping down your throat, but before they do, I'm sorry Trump isn't the guy you thought he was.

So let me get this straight... You voted from Trump because you were AGAINST corporate interests and wanted to close the wage gap? Trump.

The man who has his living room dressed up like THIS, was your choice for "stabilizing the wage gap".
