[release]In a Gamasutra-attended conference call, EA CEO John Riccitiello announced that the company's major first person shooter Battlefield 3 has shipped more than 10 million units since its launch earlier this week.
He also added that EA has already begun receiving reorders for the game to help replenish stock.
The DICE-developed Battlefield 3 launched October 25 across the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
For comparison, EA's previous Battlefield title, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, released in March 2011 and has sold 11 million copies to date.
"This is the biggest one-day shipment the company has ever done," added company COO Peter Moore, explaining that it was roughly double last year's Medal of Honor.
Earlier this week, analysts predicted that Activision's Modern Warfare 3 will sell twice as much as this latest Battlefield title.

What a piece of ship!
That may explain the system commiting suicide upon launch.
I guess you could say it had a shippy release.
How much did Black Ops ship?
Heres to saying that Activision have a pretty good plumbing system.
because they must be shitting themselves.
It's still not out in the UK so it's not over yet
Best selling game ever? Let's go. The only downside to this is a lot of retards are playing BF3 right now. Oh well, PC isn't that bad.

its funny cause it sounds like shit lol
bare in mind shipped doesn't mean sold. still amazing figures
It deserves it.
It's a great game and deserves to be played, the only thing i dont really like is the occasional Call of Duty player on a server typing in leet speak and has a name like l33tmariwanagodfather or something.
I imagine me playing this for a few years in all honestly.
I'm interested to know if that figure includes the number of digital versions sold, and what percentage of the shipped copies are for PC.
I hope this helps people understand why Origin's activation system is taking a dump. EA never expected 10 million fucking users signing up at the same exact moment.
I really want this game too do well. I've heard alot of bad things about the SP but I've heard the MP is a whole new experience in itself. I've always enjoyed Battlefield games and I cannot wait to get my copy.

Yeah, way less than expected
Welcome to the world of Mass Marketing.
I'm really not surprised, I expected more.

Really? I thought the SP was great, though it didn't end like I wanted it to :v:
The campaign kinda sucks though, as does the origin requirement.
Now if only they'd fix that issue where my mouse movement is so choppy if strains my eyes.
Really? I thought the SP was great, though it didn't end like I wanted it to :v:
I've heard it's really restricting, tons of quick-time events and using stuff already done by previous FPS.
Good for them.
I kinda don't see MW3 selling twice as much as that tbh. People who bought this might not buy this at all, so that might leave a few less millions out.
Shipped =/= sold to customers
Shipped =/= sold to customers
Shipped may mean purchased as well. Preorders and all.
Shipped may mean purchased as well. Preorders and all.
Its the number of copies sold and delivered to retailers.
How much did Black Ops ship?
5.6 million sold in the first 24 hours, 18 million overall
Shipped =/= sold to customers
they wouldnt ship 10 million copies for nothing though.
Shipped =/= sold to customers
5million of them are activision finally finding a use for their unlimited money and huge toilet that doesn't involve throwing the former into the latter directly
