TAIPEI -- Google Inc.'s eyeglass-shaped mobile computing device will likely be priced at an affordable level when it officially goes on sale, a local researcher at the Topology Research Institute said yesterday. The Google Glass is expected to carry an initial price tag to consumers of US$299, Topology researcher Jason Tsai told reporters on the sidelines of a local seminar on wearable devices.
Source/more: http://www.chinapost.com.tw/business/company-focus/2013/08/08/385842/Google-Glass.htm Source 2: http://www.geek.com/android/google-glass-expected-to-retail-for-299-1564970/ Google did mention that the official version of glass will be priced "similar to modern smartphones", and this researcher claims the most expensive component will be the $35 display, so hopefully his prediction holds up. The explorer edition was likely $1500 just to weed out the people who weren't serious about submitting feedback or getting a head start on developing for it.
I'll buy one. I don't care if I look like a tool, I'll be more happy leaving my cellphone in my bag.
In the coming years I expect to see articles like: 'Man caught recording movie premiere with Google Glass' 'Teenager caught watching porn in class, claimed he had sight problems' 'Police recover footage of robbery - stored on the robber's Google Glass' 'Man accidentally auto-uploads footage of himself having sex with his wife on Facebook'
Mmm, GSM transmitter next to my brain.
I don't like the idea of anyone being able to record me at any time without my knowledge. I'm already sick of people putting me in their Vines
Mmm, GSM transmitter next to my brain.
Hasn't got one. It connects to your smartphone and uses it as a hotspot.
I don't like the idea of anyone being able to record me at any time without my knowledge. I'm already sick of people putting me in their Vines
Anyone can already do it with a cleverly hidden cell phone.
Mmm, GSM transmitter next to my brain.
Google Glass connects via low-power bluetooth to your smartphone, which you hopefully didn't glue to your head
I've recently got a smart phone, so now I'm seriously considering Google Glass. That said PS4 comes out this year too. Decisions decisions.
Google Glass connects via low-power bluetooth to your smartphone, which you hopefully didn't glue to your head
I have been under the impression since the very beginning that the google glass was a phone in itself. this changes everything!
Hasn't got one. It connects to your smartphone and uses it as a hotspot.
You're right, but GSM is the only thing it's lacking. It has Galaxy Nexus era guts and runs android on its own, and still has wifi and bluetooth.

I forgot about the Glass.
They just need a version that will clip on to my regular glasses. I'm fucking blind otherwise.
Mmm, GSM transmitter next to my brain.
Uhhh...it's non-ionising, the most it could do is perhaps heat your skin by a fractional amount of a degree. It's really not going to hurt you whether it's next to your brain or next to your little toe.
IIRC that has already been confirmed. [editline]9th August 2013[/editline] also contacts are nice
I wore contacts for years, but it got to the point where they would dry my eyes out really bad.
but the cancers radaiations
Fuck man mutations sound rad ace! Extra arms every day!
Any time the camera is active it turns on a very obvious light that anyone can see.
That anyone can easily cover up. People act all awkward once they realize they're on camera anyways, not them knowing will save them some embarrassment :v:
If they add a notification light, I'll just go onto XDA Developers and find an exploit that disables it. Not because I'm some creep motherfucker, but I think there are many legitimate reasons people should be recorded without their knowledge. Don't like it? Don't go outside into a public area.
The camera light is probably hardware based
The camera light is probably hardware based
Kinda like old camcorders. Then everyone stopped caring.
but I think there are many legitimate reasons people should be recorded without their knowledge.
Such as? Unless you are referring to things such as security cameras in stores, which really doesn't compare.
Such as? Unless you are referring to things such as security cameras in stores, which really doesn't compare.
The police is the only one that comes to mind personally. Anything else doesn't really apply.
Google Glass could really be used as the ultimate spy tool. I mean really what could be better to catch somebody than being able to look in their eyes.
Such as? Unless you are referring to things such as security cameras in stores, which really doesn't compare.
Encounters with police, any type of authority, conversations that take place in business, while driving, during an accident (for insurance claims and whatnot). I mean it's great for everything.Imagine how people would act if they were being recorded 24/7 (while in a public space). Theft would go down, corruption within government roles would go down, fraud would go down, you'd have a record of everything and anything that occurred that day. What's wrong with that? It's considered a public place for a reason.
