Yeah, I've been a terrible thread maker in these parts, but I just need you guys to help me. This Christmas (don't think I'm a spoiled little bitch, my entire family is putting together money for this) I am getting $1000 to buy a gaming laptop. I'm saying 950ish because I'm including tax and any accessories I might get.
Minimum:
RAM: 2 gb
Hard drive: 100 gb
Video Card: I don't really know much in this part (part of the reason why I was such a bitch)
Processor: Anything good, I believe I'd like 2.5 GHZ
To sum it up, I don't care on either one of those, what I really want is to be able to play TF2, and my best hope is being able to play L4D2.
(my mom has a disease where it hurts to much to stand still, she needs a laptop, please don't disrespect that)

That's not helping make you look better.

So is this for you or your mom? Because you seem to only care for your own uses of it.
Anyways a laptop with a good dual or quad core, 4gb of ram and at least a HD5650 will run all source games decently.
You could easily get a gaming laptop of the specs that you've said you want. You could definitely get at least 4GB RAM, a quad core processor and a good graphics card.

Go to that link. Has a good deal on a laptop. It's in England though, not America/AU.
I'm not a computer whiz, so I don't know a good comp., could you be more specific, please?

Bam.
I have a p-7805u and it's wonderful. This will more than tackle your needs.
Any of the lower models (like mine) would work as well...
What are you gonna be playing? If you don't have a gaming desktop, I would get that before a gaming laptop.
[editline]09:59PM[/editline]
Oh your mom needs a laptop? Care to explain? I mean you don't need to stand to use a desktop.
I wish they made a loptop with an i5, and a pretty good graphics card.

You have many choices.

your wish has come true
My mom has lyme disease, and she and I have been working on saving up the money. Thanks, I'll be looking at all your suggestions, like I said in the OP, I'll be playing TF2 and my hopes are to be able to play L4D2
[editline]11:43AM[/editline]
GTX 260 vs. GT 33DM vs. HD Radeon 5650
Which one?
Isn't lyme disease curable?
That pretty good Alienware Mx11 laptop, and before people reply with "lolalienwarehurp" I agree their desktops suck, however the Mx11 is a really good laptop, so read some reviews.
Wait. So she's going to be using the laptop as well?
With $950 I'd say get a small $200 netbook for your mom, and a decent $750 laptop for yourself
That is, if you want to make your mom happy.
Or even better. Get her a good little netbook, and yourself a good desktop. Everyone's happy.
ASUS. Good value.
why would you waste money on a gaming laptop, especially when your mother has financial and health difficulties
god your priorities are fucked up

How about you shut the hell up, we've always needed a new computer and I've been saving up the money they get me and that I earn since my 11th birthday for a computer. My mother won't even be using it that much but she still wants to use it, she's a bit stubborn so she won't get a netbook.
I'd love to get a desktop, hell I'd love to build a desktop, but I wouldn't want to waste the money if I fuck up, plus they don't trust me enough, anyway.

Would that be the best choice out of the three?

No.
So, you're posting now on a computer, so you should build your own, and give her the one you're currently using, unless I missed something.
fuck fuck fuck fuck

just read the reviews, says it can run starcraft 2 perfectly medium-high settings, it's cheaper than all the others, are the other computers better than this, or is this the best choice considering the price?
EDIT:
@Falubii, it's not that simple, this computer aboslutely sucks, it's got 510 mb, so I'm barely being able to post and other than that, didn't I say they don't trust me and I don't want to fuck up?
Your mom is sick with lyme disease and all you care about is playing some games.
Alienware is overpriced.
Seriously, TF2 and L4D2 are pretty low-end games, you can probably get away with something like 750$, not to forget it's a long time since Christmas and there might be some new laptops coming up.
Did you even check the one I posted earlier? They all can do what you want and are in a 700-800$ range. Leaving you some money for your mom.

Better watch out what you say about TF2, some with I7 and GTX 260 have troubles.

Yeah, if they're retarded and are running BOINC on the background without CPU usage limitations.
Phenom II X3 3.2GHz, 6GB, HD5770, no problems running TF2.

I have some C2D E6400 2.8ghz 4GB, 9800GT 1gb, and I can run it maxed out with eye candies with no problems. Some just really have trouble with it, only running it.
for 430$ I can get a laptop with the following:
320go 7200rpm
athlon II p320 dual core 2,1ghz
15,6 inch screen
mobility radeon hd 4250 1917 shared memory
1366x768
windows seven, 2 year warranty.
it's superb for my studies, but could it run starcraft II?
Your mom is sick with lyme disease and all you care about is playing some games.
Seriously? Because my mom is sick, I can't be happy? I'm not self-centered, I love my mom, SHE is the one who told me about this whole thing.
Just tell me if I should get the $750 laptop:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115795&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3640869&SID=skim629X1198
Or if I should get a different one, I'm only going to be playing Valve Games, and maybe the occasional fun low-end game. My best hope is to be able to play Portal 2 now, seeing as I've been told you can get really high-end laptops for $1000, but what my focus is, is being able to play TF2.

OK, fuck, this one says it can run Starcraft 2 and BFBC:2 both at highest settings.
Bump?
It's acer? :wtc:!!one I don't like acer because mine is an acer right now AND IT TOTALLY SUCKS!!1 But that one shall do nicely.
I also can't take you seriously because of who looks like Queen Latifah for your avatar.
[editline]01:20PM[/editline]
Also that Gateway strikes me as worse than the acer, even though it's more expensive, perhaps because no one really uses Core 2 anymore? v:v:v Just get that acer.
Okay, bump, my mother says she only wants a laptop so she doesn't have to go in her room, where this computer is currently located, and I can get a desktop if I put it on some rolling table thing, and just move it out of the living room whenever my parents want some..."privacy"
:saddowns:
Either way, I think it's a good compromise, since I'm allowed to have it overnight on the weekends, and they usually only want privacy late.
So, basically, I can buy a $950ish desktop, It's got to be pre-built and upgradeable, I am not allowed to build it and we get a 15% discount at Dell because of my Uncle, but even they understand that Dell is terrible, so it has to be an upgradeable pre-built.
