Facial reconstruction made of Bronze Age woman 'Ava'
A facial reconstruction has been made of a young woman who died more than 3,700 years ago.
The woman's bones, including a skull and teeth, were discovered at Achavanich in Caithness in 1987.
Known as "Ava", an abbreviation of Achavanich, she is the subject of a long-term research project managed by archaeologist Maya Hoole.
Forensic artist Hew Morrison, a graduate of the University of Dundee, created the reconstruction.
Not bad looking tbh
I'd tap that.

Seriously though, that's amazing. I'll admit I thought she would've looked much different.
It can be hard to remember that people 4000 and even 60,000 years ago more or less looked just like us.
Also it's weird to think she's probably a common ancestor to some of us.
I'd tap that.

Yeah I don't mind making her a single mother

Wouldn't be surprised if she already was, and left behind a couple of orphan babbies. Who promptly got spirited away by little people who lived underground.

your post deserves to be a candidate for post of the week.
Why would little people still live underground back then though? The reason why they live underground now is because they hate pop music, and pop music back then was much better.
The reconstructed photo most assuredly looks like she is one of us, a most humanish human indeed.
How far back would we have to go before a human baby would not be intelligent or whatever enough to grow up and go to school and live a "normal" life like any current human being?
7/10
That chin.

It's just a recreation to show how her face (facial structure precisely) would have looked like.
She would only look that well kept in our era obviously. In actuality she was probably pretty gross and repulsive.

Looks like a 7 at least, I'll have that if you wont
How far back would we have to go before a human baby would not be intelligent or whatever enough to grow up and go to school and live a "normal" life like any current human being?
A very, very long time. As long as a child has the ability to learn and communicate with vocal language, it will be able to form an intelligence. A hundred thousand years or more, probably.
You guys are picky as fuck wtf lol
strong jaw strong woman good protector of children good mate
I need a woman with a strong jaw so she can crack her own walnuts
strong jaw strong woman good protector of children good mate
sure, but good mate =/= attractive mate, unless of course that's your avenue.
strong jaw strong woman good protector of children good mate
we need a reconstruction of her butt to tell if she is a good mate or not
Kind of looks like kristen stewart

I guess this is what he talked about in the Kurzgesagt video when he mentioned that prehistoric humans may have had bigger brains at average than modern humans.

larger butt means she is better fed and thus healthier, which likely means she would be better at providing for her children. if i were a bronze age man that's what i would be looking for in a mate
she looks derpy

Bigger brain doesn't mean bigger smart though
Whales have very large brains but you don't see them asking for computer generated butt simulations of their ancestors on Internet forums so who's the real winner here

Well you know what they say, "Its not the size that matters its how you use it" :smug:
All that knowledge of starting fires, identifying plants, and survival skills blah blah blah, is useless to those of us who live in the sheltered-ass infrastructure of technology. So why not remove it and make more space in the brain for other more pressing matters... like 'X is hot or not' discussion :v:
btw whales have even bigger brains, just saying.
Wow, I always thought people in the past looks like mongoloids or something
I know they're calling her a "woman"--and maybe it's just the image--but does her skull look rather small to anyone else?
You think you people might actually be talking about a (dead) kid here? :pudge:
Tbf the hair, hair color, eye color, and skin color is all just guess work.
For all we know, she could have been red-headed. As for the whole "woman" thing, this was Bronze Age Scotland after all. Times were rough. I'll just leave it at that.
sure, but good mate =/= attractive mate, unless of course that's your avenue.
Our entire evolutionary history disagrees
