I assume garry won because his game has been around for quite a while now as opposed to GMOD. And Garry doesn't actually own any trademark for GMod as it's just an abbreviation of Garry's Mod, so this wasn't a copyright infringement battle, probably just Kickstarter not wanting to trigger a legal battle is all.

IIRC copyright law and trademarks are more to do with what people associate with the name/product than what name you fill out on a form. I know very little about copyright law so I am likely to be wrong.

It's a shame, you can tell these guys worked really hard for a couple weekends on this.

Even if it wasn't suspended I guessed that it wouldn't be able to launch because there were 17 days left and they raised like $7,000, so it was likely not going to happen anyway.
If they were serious about it they could have avoided the whole mess if they changed their name, that would not excuse them for having a damn subscription based model for a client that only installs mods though :v:.
It's probably because they suspected that a lot of the backers actually worked for the company, remember, in the other thread garry posted they had worked things out.
