Hello, wanted to upgrade my PC a bit and add a SSD to boot my OS from. Probably going to be asking for it for Christmas, so anything under $300 would be great. Just wanted to see what people on here recommended. Thanks!
Here you go (ranked from fastest to slowest) (Ranked by reliability it would be 1. Intel; 2. Samsung; 3. Crucial)
Either get a Samsung 830:

Or an Intel 520:

Or a Crucial M4:

Samsung also announced their Samsung 840 series, so that's also a option.
Samsung 840:

If I remember reading correctly, the Samsung 840 is not Sandforce based so it will be slower on random read/write, but it is still a step up from the Samsung 830 in a number of categories.
The key things to look at for SSDs are 4kb/s reads and sustained reads. In which case, the Samsung 840 carries them. The last key to look for is reliability because even small SSD firmware issues can be damaging to the drive itself. At current the Samsung 840 is still too new to have reliability tests done, but if it is anything like its predecessor it will be really reliable.
Conclusion: Get the Samsung 840 if you want a fast SSD, get an Intel 520 if you want the most reliable SSD
