The unnamed officer from the motor vehicle battalion of the Ukrainian navy said Russian troops broke in to the base near the inland town of Bakhchisaray some time after 2 p.m., took mobile phones from the Ukrainians and began trying to remove vehicles. None of the Ukrainian troops was hurt and the base commander was trying to negotiate an end to the action. Further details were not immediately available. Russian forces who have taken control of a number of military installations across the Black Sea peninsula have not so far exchanged fire in anger with Ukrainian troops.
http://english.alarabiya.net/en/News/middle-east/2014/03/10/Russian-troops-fire-at-Ukraine-military-post.html
Russian troops opened fire on Monday during the takeover of a Ukrainian military post in Crimea but no one was wounded, Interfax quotes the Ukrainian base commander. Ukraine's Channel 5 television quoted defense official Vladislav Seleznyov as saying the shooting, a rare occurrence since Russian forces took over the Black Sea peninsula a week ago, took place in mid-afternoon at a motor pool base near Bakhchisaray, according to Reuters. On his Facebook page, Seleznyov said about 10 “unidentified armed men” in two minibuses drove into the compound and demanded Ukrainian personnel there give them 10 trucks. Moscow, which has a major naval base at Sevastopol in Crimea, has denied that uniformed units, wearing no insignia, which have taken control of the region are from its military forces - a denial ridiculed in Kiev and by Western governments. Crimean leaders who took power after Ukraine's pro-Moscow president was overthrown in Kiev have called a referendum for Sunday to unite the region with Russia. Officials could not immediately be contacted and it was unclear whether the confrontation at Bakhchisaray had ended, according to Reuters.
EDIT: I've been told this isn't the first time they've opened fire like this. Tried to change the title to "Russian troops allegedly open fire at Ukraine military post", but it won't let me. If someone wants to change that, I'd be grateful. If you want to delete the thread, I also understand that as well. EDIT: Fixed links. Had to repost the entire thing on the last edit, and the abbreviated links broke things.
They're just trying to get them to fire shots.
Didn't the Russians fire warning shots some days earlier?
Didn't the Russians fire warning shots some days earlier?
I hadn't heard about that, and was led to believe this was the first shots. I tried to change the title of the thread to "Russian troops allegedly open fire at Ukraine military outpost" but it won't let me change it.

It happened several days ago. Pretty interesting/tense.
Yeah they fired warning shots when a Ukraine group advanced on them (with no weapons). It happened several days ago. Pretty interesting/tense.
Ridiculous is a word I'd more freely use. None of this should be happening right now.
what how is the west starting shit
Condemnations are serious business. Edit: Russia's feelings were seriously hurt.
well considering the west is the one thats starting shit, from the russian pov yeah i'd want them to fire the first shots of war too
Either worst attempt at sarcasm ever, or best result of brainwashing ever.

I really hope this conflict will be short-lived and that no mandatory drafts are sent out if we get involved. [editline]10th March 2014[/editline]
If someone wants to change that, I'd be grateful. If you want to delete the thread, I also understand that as well.
PM a moderator, I'm pretty sure they can still change thread titles if asked.
Shit; I really thought after Yankuvoich was ousted that things would really be able to start stabilizing in Ukraine. I still remember when the first thread popped up on SH about the 1 million strong protest of the new anti-protest laws in Kiev. Never thought it become even more complicated with each passing day; and especially not to this degree
Probably is talking about EuroMaidan, you know the whole EU thing
yea seems like we already forgot about all that [editline]10th March 2014[/editline] not that im trying to say russia is a good guy because they're just as bad as the rest of us but this shit is happening for a reason
what how is the west starting shit
All those angry letters cost the Russian Postal Service over 50 billion dollars to deliver [editline]10th March 2014[/editline] Both links in OP are broken
Both links in OP are broken
Fixed. Sorry. It white-screened the edit box and I had to copy/paste. The abbreviated links caused them to break.
Are we still waiting for war? Won't happen.
well considering the west is the one thats starting shit from the russian pov, yeah I'd want them to fire the first shots of war too
Comma placement is important. I share the same feeling that russians consider this a fair response to what they see as a provocation from europe. (not that it is)
I'd take this with a grain of salt, there's been plenty of rumors like these floating around lately.
Either worst attempt at sarcasm ever, or best result of brainwashing ever.
judging by your "totally 100%" west view on this topic, I can say brainwashing did a good job on both frontiers.
Didn't the Russians fire warning shots some days earlier?
They did:
