I loved the first 1982 film "The Thing" by John Carpenter For those who have not seen the great movie, this is the prequel remake that is going to be released on October. I cannot wait!
Thanks for making a thread, bro.
Yay! Practical effects!
I really hate to sound like one of them "this film sucks remakes suck balls" dudes, But why remake The Thing.. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the original. The Thing has pure suspense and at times, was quite scary. There's just no reason to remake this film other than to milk money. It's practically copied the original and brings nothing new to the table. Gahhh
(its a prequel not a remake, I'm silly)

It is not a direct remake. You know in the original movie when they find the small base with dead bodies and people ripped to shreds -- they're all frozen. This is suppose to be a prequel setting up the events of the original. That's what I've read anyways. Could be wrong.
Hmmm, I don't like the fact that it looks like they're filling it with the cheap Hollywood pop-out-at-you scares. That's not what made the original The Thing scary.
But I do like that they're emphasizing traditional effects over computerized ones.

Fair play if it's a prequel, But it honestly doesn't look like one from that trailer. if its not, Shame on you Hollywood, shame on you!!
It is. Don't be fooled by the lack of a subtitle in the title.

Hmm, I guess I stand corrected, Still though, flame throwers, the dogs.. it just.. gahh... I'll have to wait and see.
That was a fucking HORRENDOUS trailer.
Jump scares? Generic Hysterical Horror Movie Screaming? Terrible acting? Terrible Dialogue? Stupid Girl Power Female Lead? And they're NOT EVEN SPEAKING NORWEGIAN.
This is not a Thing movie and it should cease development immediately.
The only thing they're doing right is using good old fashioned animatronics.
At least they're using the old-school awesome animatronics. Those look far more real than the primitive cheap CGI we're working with in the modern day.
Still, I agree that there should be less jump scares, there should be more scares based around tension and anxiety, maybe even utilise a bit of Fridge Horror (pun very much intended) as things are pieced together and it hits you like a truck without using jump scares.
The thing I liked most about The Thing was the paranoia of not knowing who you could trust since they were all in an extremely isolated location with no real hope of rescue and of course the gross out scares with the Thing's many manifestations.
i said the thing 3 times without realizing it what the fuck
If it's a remake, then I am fucking pissed.
If it's the prequel, I'm disappointed in the lack of Norwegian being spoken.
It looks shitty
They better show the thing alot like in the 1st movie that's what made it so scary and awesome.
Needs loads and loads more Norwegian. That would atleast add to the immersion.
It's a prequel, not a remake. Just for some strange reason has the same title as the original is all.
