Suffering from writers block or do you have a story that you want to write but it's clouded? Or do you just not know what to write about and need a kick start in your creativity? If you have any interest in writing or creating stories or if you have an interesting kickstart paragraph for a potential story, please feel free to post it.* * Here are some writing prompt examples: Ex #1:, 'Its 3am and you are trapped in an abandoned school with just your dead mobile phone, a bottle of water and your friend, who blacked out after tripping and hitting his head on the edge of an old desk. the school bell suddenly rings..' Ex #2:, "...Connor slowly slid his hands up Jessica's inner thighs, hoping she wouldn't wake up. He watched as her chest rose and fell with every second. This might be the only time he would ever get the chance to ever touch a girl. But as he got higher and higher.." Ex #3: Someone is shutting down your favorite store. You put together a protest to prevent this from happening. Who are your characters, what is your protest called and why is it so important to you that this store isn't closed down?
I see the prompt thing, but I don't see how this will help anyone overcome writer's block
I was hoping people would just make up a three sentence paragraph or something or come up with a storyline idea and let it just from there. :/ just wanted to help in some way.
But where does writer's block come in Unless you mean it in the sense of universal writer's block rather than a specific wip idk still pretty confused Were you planning to write something yourself based on someone's contribution?
Were you planning to write something yourself based on someone's contribution? no. Nevermind. Guess this was a stupid idea.
Hell, why not. Here's a plot idea I've been trying to flesh out, it's intended to be for a game but it's becoming harder and harder to implement it into something playable, here goes: Rodney V. is an unemployed, uninteresting man of average looks, median IQ, and who's life has been up to this point entirely unremarkable, no previous arrests, never tried any drugs except for the legal stuff, his love life is average to the point of being boring, and his everyday life has become so monotonous that one day has become hard to tell apart from another. His days go by without incident, without any high points at all. Up until the point when Rod, obviously sick and tired of this perpetual recursion, has stopped to give even the slightest hint of a damn about what the current day is. All seemed right, yet somehow, this was entirely wrong. It is around this point, when on his most boring life, a slight spark of curiosity makes him ask himself what the current date was. This was most unusual for his otherwise static daily schedule, an anomaly in his routine. He found out that the date was October the third, a day which by the way, went on entirely without incident, yet however, perhaps just for the sake of doing something different, and without any particular reasoning behind it, he marked with an X the spot that belonged to October the third on the calendar he kept next to his alarm clock. Rod woke up, the next morning, he rose to his usual 47 minute long wake up routine, and went on for a 6 minute walk to a nearby coffee shop he always comes to breakfast on. He ordered an egg omelet, and asked for today's paper. The omelet, was decent as usual, but as the waitress came back to collect his empty plate, and hand him the check and today's paper, something caught his eye, something some would call funny yet many more would call tragic. On the header, the paper marked clearly today's date as October the third, 2012. Rod wasn't particularly troubled by it, merely curious. He called the waitress, telling her to bring him today's paper, as this one was yesterday's. The waitress raised an eyebrow, and assured him that today was indeed, October the third. Rod frowned slightly, pensive, he was most sure that his previous boring day was October the third, so his current boring day cannot be October the third as well. He went on with his life as usual, and when he headed back home, he checked the calendar, on which the date belonging to October the 3rd was clearly marked with an X. He shrugged it off, and headed off to bed. The next morning, he rose to his usual 47 minute long wake up routine, and went on for a 6 minute walk to a nearby coffee shop he always comes to breakfast on. He ordered an egg omelet, and asked for today's paper. The omelet, was decent as usual, but as the waitress came back to collect his empty plate, and hand him the check and today's paper, something caught his eye. Rod froze, as the waitress again handed him the October the 3rd issue. It took Rod merely seconds to realize he knew exactly how everything was going to go down in the coffee shop if he did his usual schedule, without the slightest chance of permutation, down to accidents like somebody dropping a plate, and he knew exactly who was going to step in and what they were going to do. Rod rose to his feet, dropping 20 dollars on the table for a omelet worth 3, and stormed outside. He deposited a couple of quarters on a newspaper dispenser, obtaining a paper he immediately discarded it upon checking the date, and headed off on a rush, 4 blocks down, and found that a nearby newstand had every single paper with it's date labeled as October, the third. Now Rod was distraught, lost, and confused. He felt dizzy. He slowly began to realize that his days weren't just similar, they were identical. And his schedule was able to be completed every single time because every single time the same events were going to go down. He couldn't believe it, he asked people on the street, he checked every TV, it was the second time he was living October the third, but who knows for how long he has been stuck on this loop? He was trapped, unwillingly and unknowingly, on an endless loop of the same 24 hours. He couldn't know how, he couldn't know why. He just knew. And it was too much. He walked aimlessly, ignoring his entire surroundings, up until the point when he heard a loud horn emanating from a transmetropolitan bus. It struck him, he landed half a dozen feet away, with a numbing pain overcoming it, and a warm stream of blood emanating from his head. His daze began to overcome him, and slowly, he closed his eyes. Everything went dark then, and silent, like if he went asleep, he knew it was over. The next morning, he rose to his usual 47 minute long wake up routine, and went on for a 6 minute walk to a nearby coffee shop he always comes to breakfast on. He ordered an egg omelet, the omelet was decent as usual, but as the waitress came back to collect his empty plate, and hand him the check and today's paper, he refused it. Instead, he left 5 dollars on the table, and headed right out, with a smirk on his face. (And that's where I get blocked, whatever happens next lol)
Okay, I dont know if you've ever seen the movie, Ground Hog Day, but thats basically the storyline that your story sounds like. Was this intentional? Are you planning on having different twists?
I've been trying to come up with some sort of decent villain for the longest while now, but everything has been done. Some dude that just wants to take over the world? That's barely an idea. Evil tyrant king? Done. Guy trying to overthrow a king? Also done. To death. Good guy that is being controlled from the sidelines? Done. A once-a-generation conceived person with special powe-ohwaitLegendofZeldaandAvatar/Korra. Good guy that acts as an antagonist to protect you from the truth? Oh shit, Metaknight from Kirby. [editline]14th June 2012[/editline] Maybe I shouldn't restrict myself for the idea itself to be so unique, but work to make the character unique from all other characters like it. I really don't like cliches though, unless used for ironic or sarcastic purposes. It's a toughie.

This is the most insane thing I've read lately: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xavin Shes a shapeshifter who basically only shifts into either male or female.. making me believe shes a trans. But she/he also changes their skintone to adjust to "the times" because space travel. Also, because shes a "lesbian" with this white woman who prefers her as a black woman? Its pretty nuts. If someone can make up something that crazy, you can do it too.

In fact, one of my longest running characters was inspired by the cartoon Chalkzone and that lame-o Megaman show that used to be on Kids WB. I made him 7 years ago to be correct, and he went under major changes along the way. Even though some of my characters are similar to what might be deemed typical, I've twisted the characters a bit so they are unique in their own special way. I could just never get the antagonist down. What Rebi suggested actually sounds pretty good, albeit used often too. I might have to experiment with my stories a bit to find a suitable drive for the antagonist that works with the story.

So they won't have much of their own personality if that's your whole structure for them, and cliches are pretty much assured. Start with personality, appearance, personal history, then base their intentions and goals from that. If you start with "ok, I need some sort of decent villain" then it's not surprising that you haven't had much luck.
Okay, I dont know if you've ever seen the movie, Ground Hog Day, but thats basically the storyline that your story sounds like. Was this intentional? Are you planning on having different twists?
I'm aware of Groundhog Day. Never watched the movie but I'm aware they did do something like the time loop I mentioned on my story. I did think more on the game element of it than the story, since it could work perfectly as a puzzle game, where the only way out of the loop is the correct sequence of actions, and the only way to restart it is to wait it out or flat out die, and by the meta-knowledge you have acquired of your previous runs you can complete the game. I was planning on implementing this within the story, having the calendar be the only thing other than Ron's consciousness that "sticks" through the loops, then again I didn't really flesh this out. Another idea I had is that instead of it being a normal, uneventful day, it was a day that presented a massive tragedy to the main character, and he enters the loop like if it's some sort of cosmic second chance.
-A man always stuck on October 3rd
Maybe, now that Rod knows what's going to happen, and that it wil always be October 3rd, he can go out and live a different life, as it seems impossible to die (from the looks of it) However, in the end he will find some sort of secret, to make it different, to change the world to October 4th and so on.
3rd* goddamn
3rd* goddamn
It's actually thirth, don't question it.
3rd* goddamn
Changed it for you.
What, you didn't change anything [editline]17th June 2012[/editline] Oh in YOUR post Cheers I guess :v:
