A 17-year-old, who was about to sit her senior exams, has been banned from school because her hair is too ginger. Emily Reay has naturally auburn hair, and toldThe Mirror she has had the same colour for three years. But after returning from the Easter school holiday break, teachers at Trinity School in Carlisle, UK, banned her from attending classes again until she had a “more appropriate” hair colour. “I’ve had the same colour for the past three years, and nobody at school has commented on it,” she told The Mirror. “Everyone knows me as that ‘young ginger singer’. “If I had to dye my hair brown, I would lose that.” The budding musician told the telegraph the school ban made her cry.
http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/real-life/redhead-banned-from-school-for-being-too-ginger/story-fnq2oad4-1227306655004 Apparently this is too ginger for school:
The fuck....
that is seriously fucked up. there is no excuse for this "Her hair was too red and it blinded me, kick her out." fucking wat
This is bullshit, we are in 2015, why do we have to ban people from public institutions for their hair color?
Well, sounds like the faculty needs to get sued for their bones. I mean, her hair's pretty but it's not fucking electric blue. There is no legal excuse for her getting kicked out.
I am sure a lot of posts are copied directly from Reddit. I saw 4 reddit posts that were reposted on FP. On-Topic: The school forbids 'artificial' hair colors, and her hair was 'too orange' to be considered ginger.
Fuck schools need to just stop, there are people being bullied and self harming and shit and all these people can do is waste time on dumb shit like this. It makes me so angry that children are forced into places being run by idiots who are meant to be setting them up with good knowledge and morals for the rest of their life, and the fact these kinds of reports are getting more common is a really bad sign. Something needs to be done about the school system and quick, before we take it one step too far and end up with a generation of hyper sensitive kids who are too scared to stand out or take a chance because they've been excluded one too many times.

News is news and some of us don't go to Reddit, myself included. So what's the problem with re-posting it here?
I am sure a lot of posts are copied directly from Reddit. I saw 4 reddit posts that were reposted on FP.
You know there's actually a chance that they're the same people
Fucks sake, she's beautiful.
It doesn't even look like an unnatural colour though, what's the issue? I'd understand if it was near orange or something.
Blatant Discrimination right there Enjoy the lawsuit ya cheeky cunts
There was some guy in our school who had hair so ginger he looked like a carrot, but nobody cared and neither did the school. Fuck what the school thinks is appropriate, they shouldn't be able to use their guidelines as a reason to exclude someone.
This usually reminds me of schools where half of the staff acts like they are still in high school. For fuck sake its her natural hair, why the hell does it have to be a different color.
Really? Banning a senior from gaining her education and finishing her senior exams just because her hair is too fucking orange to be considered ginger? That education system is out of line.
This is bullshit, we are in 2015, why do we have to ban people from public institutions for their hair color?
IMO we just flat out don't really need dress codes. As long as you aren't near naked or something anything should go.
This is bullshit, we are in 2015, why do we have to ban people from public institutions for their hair color?
Was this acceptable in 2014?
Seems like some self-hating teacher had a Fight Club-esque 'destroy something pretty' moment. Fuck that. A few girls in my high school almost had their education ruined by rules against 'extreme hair colour'. What was their crime? Blonde hair with pink dip-dye tips. They were suspended in GCSE year. I really do not like school management as a rule.
Emily Reay has naturally auburn hair
Rev up the lawsuit machine
I've seen MUCH worse haircolors. kinda silly considering hers is one of the more tame i've seen.
I usually don't like to comment on someone's beauty because I don't want to come across as some creepy dude from the internet going, but yeah, she's pretty attractive. What's with this whole bs about redheads anyway?
All the gingers I have met throughout my childhood and teens were incredibly nice people, why won't people fucking get that hair and skin colour is completely irrelevant? These people are fucking dumb for kicking her out. Hope someone gets fired over this. Besides that, red hair is more of a mutation than a race, and I think its a fucking beautiful gene.
Umm.. I'm sorry, what? Who the fuck cares about hair colour? Just let the poor girl go to school damn
We have rules like that at our school as well, whether or not they apply to you is completely up to chance. Plenty of girls walk around with rainbow hair all year, but if you're unlucky, you might get in trouble for it. Nothing more than luck. Same with a lot of rules, because no place seems to attract people who get off on exercising petty authority quite like schools do.
I SEE THAT THE BLACK AND TANS STILL AINT DONE PUTTIN THE IRISH DOWN THEN EH? No but seriously this is pretty bull.

Though they'll still throw fits over other things, like shoulders.
What's the problem with shoulders with your teachers? Are they too broad or something?
Its to protect us poor innocent men from those foul seductresses who want to "distract" us.
Well, sounds like the faculty needs to get sued for their bones. I mean, her hair's pretty but it's not fucking electric blue.
I can't see how blue hair would be a problem either, it's not natural, but it's just a fucking color.
I was getting at how they were worked up about "distracting hair colours" when her hair isn't as unusual and attention-grabbing as electric blue, since people are naturally wired to spot things that are out of the ordinary and deviate from the patterns they've come to know. Still, training oneself to not be distracted is a skill that should be taught, since while it is important to seek things that deviate from the common pattern, one should not let some of the less important "anomalies" keep their attention when there are more important things to focus on. Like how to get into politics and NOT succumb to corruption and blackmail, for instance. (apparently that's one of the reasons why transfusing new blood into politics doesn't always work, not to mention that many politics students end up regretting their decision)
