All the core genres need a thread dedicated to them. Because they're awesome. -core is a very diverse label, and in this thread we should discuss the different types of -core and which particular ones we prefer over the others.

[i]Speedcore[/i] - Speedcore is a genre categorized by its distorted square wave kicks, low-quality samples and use of effeBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANPSHPSHPSHPSHPSHPSHPSHPSHPSHPSHBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANBRANBPSHPSHPSHPSHPSHPSHPSHPSHPSHPSHWUUUUUUUPSHPSHPSHPSHPSHPSHPSHPSHhhhh. Faster speedcore (above 300 BPM) is known as splittercore, and faster splittercore (above 700 bpm) is called extratone.
Derivatives include lolicore (which is like speedcore but with a bit more ONIICHAAAAAAAAAN~. I would use this space to shamelessly plug my lolicore project, but let's not) and dancecore (which is like speedcore but melodic).
[i]Metalcore[/i] - Metalcore is like screamo, but a tiny bit less gay. It's about 40% less gay in fact. A lot of it is pretty good. Basically, it's like heavier screamo. It also has a lot of good melodies. Metalcore has so many sub-sub-sub-subgenres, it's not even worth going in to, but the most notable one is probably deathcore (the same thing as metalcore but a bit darker) which has its own set of sub-sub-sub-genres.
[i]Happy hardcore[/i] - It's like trance, but faster. And more happy. This is great for listening to while you play games. Also included in this genre are the -style genres, but those aren't -core, so fuck them.
[i]Breakcore[/i] - It's like D'n'B, but faster. Notice a pattern here? A lot of breakcore crosses into other genres such as dancecore and speedcore. It's quite an experimental genre with a lot of sampling other songs (quite a lot of metal sampling going on)
[i]Grindcore[/i] - RUUUU RUUUUU RUUUUUU RUUUUUU spaspaspaspaspaspaspaspaspaspaspaspaspa YAAARGH YAAARGH YAAARGH spaspaspaspaspaspa BRIIIII RUUUUUUUUUU AAAAAAAAAHHH spaspaspaspaspaaaahhhh

It's pretty funny because they make up the lyrics afterwards (AxCx's vocalist did that anyway) so reading them and listening to the song is fucking weird.

it's just slow, somber alt. rock and i really don't know why it has the -core prefix as it sounds nothing like any other core.
