-snip just found out its late. pls close- article's still a good read tho http://foreignpolicy.com/2016/10/07/the-united-states-and-russia-are-inching-toward-doomsday-arms-weapons-nuclear/
A totally symbolic move by itself. It's not as if Russia is going to start drastically ramping up their nuclear arms production. They'll just continue their missile modernization programs like they were going to anyway. Still, it symbolizes the abysmal state of US-Russian relations right now, and we should all keep our eyes on the more relevant areas of that conflict like in Syria and (potentially) Ukraine.
Unfriendly actions. Fucking hell.
Wouldn't this conversely cause the US to and many other nations to get more missile defense platforms and update the hardware in those to make them better at shooting down missiles? Just due to the presence of early detection and anti-missile batteries in eastern Europe alone made Russia get mad is pretty clear indicator that they don't want their nukes made useless. Oh shit, Russia is scared, if they can't lord of the idea of a nuclear death over one, they have really have a decent military but not enough to defeat the US + NATO. So no allies and no nukes basically makes Russia less of a world power.
kinda late? https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1536560 also, gives some points about how USA did not uphold their part of a deal in regards of plutonium. Soo it's a PR move on top of convinient moment by Russian Goverment, not a call to nuclear holocaust.
