It's really small actually.

And you are not supposed to hold it like a regular controller, due to the position of the thumbs.

Very unlikely, since it's using the trackpads and THOSE won't be changed, because it makes it much easier to play strategy games for example.
It looks bulky and uncomfortable.
They said this about the Original Xbox controller, and most people agree. But I found it fit my hands great, even as a kid. I guess I just have a thing for electronics that are heavy and feel like they aren't going to shatter to pieces if I drop it. Those god damn things will outlive all of us

Ugh. Looks like it uses MicroUSB. Those things are weak as hell. I hardly trust them in my phone, never mind a controller being constantly moved around.

Actually what that means is its wireless and that's just how you charge it when youre not using it.
wireless is the worst tho
especially since microusbs always love to unplug a little when you're using them actively, which will turn off the controller if its that low on charge
The alternative would be to make it not wireless, in which case if the cable came unpluged a little when your using them actively, would turn the controller off *all the time*
They could just keep the xbox design and make the right side detachable, so you can plug a touchpad or some pad-button combo depending on what suits better for the game you want to play.

It's it a WiiU controller then?

yup
I thought the touch pads were supposed to replace analog sticks? Why is there one on the design now?

The WiiU Pro controller is awful. The right analog stick is so awkward to use.
The WiiU Pro controller is awful. The right analog stick is so awkward to use.
I'm pretty sure that's just because you're used to an Xbox controller or something like it. There's absolutely no reason for the right stick to be any more inconvenient than the left; they're in the same position relative to your hands, after all.
In my opinion, it's the best console controller ever made. Good sticks, good d-pad, 80 hour battery life, 'play while charging' cord, symmetrical appearance, all the necessary buttons (including power, something Xbox and PS lack). Some people might prefer analog triggers over digital for some games, but that's a matter of preference really.
I was kind of curious how this controller thing was gonna play out, but by the looks of things, I think I'm just gonna stick with the Dualshock 4.

the xbone controller uses it and it's totally awful
the wiiu controller

it uses the one on the left and it's FAR better. it could be better but it's not nearly as flimsy and shit

I have one and I find it pretty fine to use.
Ugh. Looks like it uses MicroUSB. Those things are weak as hell. I hardly trust them in my phone, never mind a controller being constantly moved around.
The thing is still going through countless design iterations, I'm pretty sure they don't care about what it charges with at this point.

I don't have a problem with my xbox one controller and the micro usb plug.

not only that but people bitch about said designs when they don't understand what a prototype is

when prototyping things you have to do as much stupid shit as you can to see what works
is the idea stupid? doesn't matter, you won't know how it feels until you try it.
I don't have a problem with my xbox one controller and the micro usb plug.
I use it for PC and it doesn't have a wireless reciever, therefore it has to be connected
its very flimsy and crappy. The xbox 360's was bulky but it was extremely sturdy, you'd have to be a crazy raging idiot to break it. Xbone? You shift it and it'll disconnect. I worry about the damn thing breaking every time I plug it in.

This is only my predictions, but I don't think I'll like the Wii U controller because of the swapped left stick. I tend to "crab claw" the controller, using my thumb on the stick, index finger on the face buttons, and middle finger on the triggers. Swap the face buttons with the left stick, and now I'd have to use my index finger on the thumb stick, which seems impossible to be efficient with.
Then again, I might pick up the controller and go "ho fuck this is perfect"
Just get a Xbox controller aka the god of every controller.
Just get a Xbox controller aka the god of every controller.
depends on preference
wiiu controller is the greatest thing I ever held but I can't use both joysticks + ABXY buttons like I can with the xbone controller, which is EXTREMELY useful
