He will be the funniest NPC the game has ever seen.

A petition on Change.org has succeeded in getting the late Robin Williams memorialized in the popular MMORPG World of Warcraft.
According to the petition, Robin Williams was an avid fan of WoW and "took his World of Warcraft characters very serious [sic]."
"He often joked about his WoW addiction but also about the reactions he'd get from other gamers when he admits he plays the game," the post continues. "Because of his presence within our community, we the players of World of Warcraft are asking Blizzard to kindly create an NPC within the game that memorializes the actor/comedian."

Petitioners got their wish late last night, when, in response to a tweet asking him if he'd seen the petition, Technical Game Designer, Chadd Nervigg responded "Yes. We're taking care of it." Robin Williams will appear as an NPC of some kind in the game.
This is really stupid.

CCP memorialized the US Ambassador that was killed in Libya in EVE Online because he played a huge role as a negotiator/diplomat in the alliances that existed in the game.
CA modeled a terminal cancer patient's face to one of the generals in Rome Total War because he was a big fan.
I honestly don't see how this is stupid.

To be honest in EVE's case the player homages were more touching, from a cluster-wide renaming of stations to the "shoot blues, tell VR" friendly-fire fleet roams.
This is really stupid.
Get off your bandwagon please.

Blizzard also had a weapon created ingame for a brain cancer ( I think ). Also they let him design a quest with them.

World of Williams
Sorry for expressing my opinion. Give me my boxes and I'll leave this thread. Good day
yeah he was a pc gamer
A posting at Kev and Charlotte's blog talks about a chance meeting with the actor Robin Williams. Anyone would have thought it would be strange enough to go visit the flat you're renting and find an entire film crew, extras and a famous actor on the street corner. But to end up talking to the lead actor about videogames?! Now that's weird.
Apparently Robin was in town filming a movie called "Man of the Year". After he was done filming he started signing autographs and ended up talking to Kev. It seems that Kev had done his homework, as he already knew they had something in common: online videogames. So naturally he asked him what game he's been playing lately. Apparently, he's been gaming a lot online with Battlefield 2 and his favorite class is the sniper. So next time you're screaming at "that friggin' camper!", feel consoled; it may be a celebrity shooting at you.
Why physical? Why can't something digital provide the same meaning as something physical? That's like saying light doesn't touch you because you don't feel it. You don't need to feel something physically to know it does something much more in other ways.

neckbeardiest way to leave a thread. ever
Reminds me of a guy named Michael that was immortalized in Borderlands 2 as a guy that gives you free leveled blue loot.
As well as a cute eulogy by Claptrap.

Blizzard has memorialized many different dead players and devs in game. Ahab Wheathoof, Alicia's Poem, Crusader Bridenbrad, Shrine of the Fallen Hero, etc.
Had no idea that he was a gamer. Nice of Blizzard to do this, to say the least.

Aren't there actual funerals in WoW sometimes?

A reference by Blizzard for Michel Martin Koiter, one of Blizzard's artists who passed away.

Ignore the music, it was a rule back in classic/tbc if you made a video with PVP in it you had to use some metal or emo music with screaming.

There's not going to be a single memorial to Robin Williams, dead celebrities don't have an allocated number of memorials, you know.
