Hey guys, writing this for my mate who just got a 965 Black Edition at 3.6 GHz and a GTX460 for his PC.
As I wrote he got those new parts, and they improved nothing at all in comparission to his old stuff, which was a 4670 and a Athlon X2 250 dualcore at 3.0 GHz
He's got 4gb DDR3 ram, but still he gets only 5-10 fps in Stormwind when he's running around and it was exactly the same before he updated his stuff. He's using "fair" settings, which is about low-medium settings.
I know WoW is optimized at all, but still, he should get way better fps than that.
He's got the latest drivers, his PSU is a corsair TX-2 I think, it outputs 650W so it's more than enough.
If anyone knows what it could be, please do tell me as he does need help badly, seeing as he's spent quite a lot of money on this, and yet he got nothing.
Maybe do a re-install because I don't know if windows likes it much when you change processors.
I think you have to reinstall windows or update the bios or something.
Oh right, forgot to mention he did reinstall, because he got a new mobo as well.
Nobody knows what could cause it?
Ensure that you don't have any weird 'Power Settings' set. I've had it unknowingly on Power Saver before, causing loads-a-lag.
Told him to check that, but it was not on power saver, so it's not that.
well this is very odd... I'm on his PC now, went into bios and shut down cool n quiet, and I noticed that the processor is at 1.4GHz, and trying to OC it makes it not boot. What could be the problem here?

Fixed it, somehow the multiplier was set to 7x instead of 17x.
