[quote]One of Microsoft’s "fathers of Kinect" is now working on wearable projects at the company. Sources familiar with Microsoft’s device plans have revealed to The Verge that Alex Kipman, general manager of Xbox incubation projects, is heading up the company’s plans for wearable computers and customizing Windows to run on even smaller screens. Kipman has worked on a number of projects at Microsoft, including the creation of Windows Ultimate Edition and the Kinect sensor. ZDNet originally reported Kipman's new focus on wearables earlier this year.
We understand that Kipman’s team is focused on testing and customizing Windows on prototypes for wearable computers like glasses and smartwatches. Microsoft is rumored to be testing a smartwatch with a 1.5-inch display and Surface connector, alongside work on Google Glass-like eyewear. We’re told that Kipman and his team are expanding on concepts like Kinect Glasses (Project Fortaleza) to test whether Microsoft could bring them out of an incubation phase and into a real product. News of potential Kinect Glasses originally leaked alongside an early Xbox One planning document last year. The document was largely accurate, and Kinect Glasses were described at the time as a "breakthrough heads-up and hands-free device" with Wi-Fi or 4G connectivity and augmented reality support.

Wearing windows sounds like a nasty cut if you fall and shatter something.
I imagined a guy with his head stuck through a painting.
thought they meant windows as in windows on your house
I'm down for this, I'd like to see more wearable technology (as long as it's useful or at least fun)
I'd honestly enjoy a smartwatch if you could retain the appearance of "classical" watches instead of some ugly futuristic piece of shit. Of course, you then face the problem of making it easily accessible. Vocal commands are effective but it just seems silly.
Microsoft has been working on wearable operating systems forever. Anyone remember those wearable projectors they were working on a long time ago?

But doesn't windows 8 take up like 21 gigabytes on mobile devices?

I know that Bill Gates' house has been able to to monitor the temperature of everyone in it and adjust the temperature of rooms to suit their needs.
Whatever happened to that smartphone projector? It was a cool idea but it disappeared presumably because nobody bought it

I think in something as expensive as a smart watch, it's easy to include 32gb of internal storage.

In the future all you hear in town is people screaming OK GOOGLE and XBOX DO THIS

That's fate worse than death.

They will probably use windows phone os or windows embedded

They might be referring to Windows Phone OS
Build me a Pip-Boy and we'll talk.
Microsoft works on lots of things, almost none of it gets to market in a useful way.
It already exists, its called Glasses.
I want a wearable doors and gates. Windows is so out of fashion.
This is a really good thing.
It means that Google Glass is doing good enough for microsoft to want into the market.
AKA competition and eventually lower prices.

Bill's gates?
I can see it now, someone wearing a penguin suit is going to run up to a guy wearing windows, punch them in the face, and yell, "wearable Linux bitch!"

You're right, I never see a Samsung Phone outside.
What happens if windows freezes? You won't be able to move?

You gotta clean the frost
Windows is too unreliable to be part of ubiquitous computing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If Microsoft is smart, they won't attach the Windows name to this.
