Hey guys remember me? (For those that don't) I'm back once more with another project and a worklog to go with it! Voyager - This is going to be a quick budget to mid-range system that's being built for my 15 year old brother. Don't go expecting anything mental or as high-end as B/B and Stealth were, this build has a strict £500 budget. To break with tradition I am actually in possession of 60% of the parts for the build already; the Case, GPU, RAM, PSU, CPU and CPU cooler. The Specs are likely to change but currently look something like this: CPU: Intel Core i3 2100 GPU: EVGA GTX 460 Mobo: MSI P67A-GD45 PSU: Silverstone Strider 500w RAM: Corsair Vengeance 4GB Case: Lian-Li (Of course!) PC60FN SSD: Some 60GB one HDD: probably a Spinpoint So what are the plans for mods, well my brother wanted a blue theme so I'm thinking of getting the inside frame of the case powder-coated in a satin blue, as well as the usual braiding etc. oh and this build will be air-cooled because of the budget too. Here's a couple of pics to start us off: Enjoy!
are you building a computer
So this shouldn't take too long, Are you going to be using any LED'S for the colour scheme ?
There's snow all over your computer parts.
As always Milky, Beautiful.
The snow makes the pictures look even better.
Anyone know what cooler that is?
It's a thermaltake
Pepper;33606042']It's a thermalright
Fixed that for you
are you building a computer
No, a sex box.
Anyone know what cooler that is?
thermalright ultra 120 extreme
are you building a computer
Yes.
So this shouldn't take too long, Are you going to be using any LED'S for the colour scheme ?
I expect so yea, although not fan based LED's, I'll probably use a strip.
There's snow all over your computer parts.
IRL soon enough too.
As always Milky, Beautiful.
Thank's Nsybouts!
Anyone know what cooler that is?
Reap got it a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme
thermalright ultra 120 extreme
Correct as always Reapaninja  OK so today I took a couple of photos of the other major components I currently have: A 4 gig stick of RAM, I wasn't paying attention when I ordered this and didn't realise it was a single stick so I may order another 4GB as they are only £18 Even though the budget is tight it just had to be a Lian-Li Imagine the silver bits in blue? Another shot of the Thermalright as I love taking photos of it so much 500w Strider The cables will of course be getting braided Planning to put an aftermarket cooler on this perhaps something from Thermalright to match the CPU cooler? And the braid! So those are most of the parts, now it's on with the modding and the first thing to be done is the braiding!
Milky, why do you have such epic parts 'lying around'
You should just strip the GPU cooler of its stickers and add your own if you feel like it looks bland without any.
I like your braids, where can I get some?
I like your braids, where can I get some?
MDPC X sleeving. http://www.mdpc-x.com/ It's the bestest best sleeving you can get, I use it too.
What do you use to heat the shrinking tubes?
I'm so excited. this will be awesome in the milky kind of way. Nuts will be busted.
What is this MDPC X sleeving for? How it is used?
Milky, why do you have such epic parts 'lying around'
Haha I wish I did, these were already ordered when I began this worklog rather than start it early.
You should just strip the GPU cooler of its stickers and add your own if you feel like it looks bland without any.
That's definitely an option, I'll be doing the custom sticker treatment on other parts for sure.
I like your braids, where can I get some?
ItWasNiceToKnow got it, MDPC-X is where the braid comes from, only the best.
MDPC X sleeving. http://www.mdpc-x.com/ It's the bestest best sleeving you can get, I use it too.
What do you use to heat the shrinking tubes?
Anything that creates heat, a hair-dryer, lighter, candle etc. I use a Heatgun that you find in hardware shops as they are the quickest and easiest way to get a uniform shrink! Deargod yes. I'm so glad I decided to go into this section or else I would've missed out on [del]fapping[/del] great content.
Today began the first tentative steps in the modding process: Come on Lian-Li your better than this, they're gonna leave a mark... Another one? leave the silly plastic stuff for the other case manufacturers please LiLi Time to get rid of this 3.5" converter Luckily I had a spare standard 5.25" bezel lying around, so I guess I do have some parts just 'lying around' Goz3rr :v: May as well get rid of this beautifully constructed HDD bay for now too... Hmm removing the HDD bay has left the floor looking like a piece of cheese with the amount of holes down there, maybe I'll make a false floor to sit on top out of some sort of coloured acrylic? Test fit of the babby PSU, a nice snug fit! And I also did a tiny bit of braiding today, just the LED indicators and power/reset switch cables you can see in the earlier images.

Question about the cable clips you've had on your other builds. Do you screw those in the leftover standoff screw holes or do you make your own?
Question about the cable clips you've had on your other builds. Do you screw those in the leftover standoff screw holes or do you make your own?
Both actually.
I'm really tempted to powder coat the inside of my case, it's a Lian Li P80-N. Damn your work is inspiring.
The Motherboard finally decided to show up today so it was straight into the studio with it! [editline]9th December 2011[/editline] Also people need to post as this page is filling up with a lot of images.

Are you planning on powder coating the Case?
Looks awesome so far, but wouldn't it have been better to get higher specs rather than a nice case etc. if it's a budget build?
Looks awesome so far, but wouldn't it have been better to get higher specs rather than a nice case etc. if it's a budget build?
There isn't much higher specs you can get, with the little money extra spent on the case..
Do you still get your hardware from Scan?
