Transsexuals are people who are diagnosed with Gender Identity Disorder and change their bodies. Either Male to Female or Female to Male. They are not to be confused with Drag queens, Cross-dressers, etc.
So my question is this: What is FP's opinion on all of it?
Also, try to avoid words like tranny and trap here? they're quite offensive
really all sex changes are is appearance changes so it's all cosmetic surgery until we can implant artificial testicles/ovaries that actually do what nature intended
Frankly I don't see the point. If you get a sex change then your sexual organs are pretty much useless and really the only thing that changes is appearance. To me, getting a sex change seems like you're just going along with the idea that males and females must act a certain way and because you don't act the way your sex is "supposed to" you need to be a different one. It just seems superficial and that people like cross dressers just embrace who they are and live with it.
You can say that altering your appearance makes you fit in more but there's also a lot of violence against Transsexuals so it doesn't seem to achieve the desired effect
I would like to add though that while I don't agree with it I don't think people should be forbidden from it or anything like that, their body their choice.

Considering the effect one's appearance has, in terms of how others treat you, that's a pretty important thing. If you feel you should be the opposite gender, just acting that way won't work out well in virtually any social situation.
Plastic surgery/sex change when it isn't needed is pretty sick IMHO. But if you want to be a transsexual, fine, just don't go changing your body. its pointless and only makes your appearance a lie, your entire charm is a fake, when you were a very pretty person the way you were born.
If you actually have real sex issues (Born both sexes lets say, 50/50, both working, or so and so), and you have to choose one, go ahead, you need it.
But thats just me, just how I grew up is all, seeing a lot of weird people who had sex changes.
man i'm happy the way i was made and i wish everybody else could be too
It's pretty disgusting cosmetic surgery that doesn't ever end up as pretty as they expect it to be
trying to change your body is too much
I think its a-okay. People should be able to do whatever they want to their bodies.
For the record, if you're diagnosed with GID then it's not "Oh i just wanna be a gurl c:" it's more like "Every time I look at myself I don't see who I feel like, who I am, I know that im not this and I know it feels wrong." it can cause serious stress and suicide. In fact trans people have the highest suicide rate among any group of people in the world. Understand that your body image defines a lot of what you do and how you act.
People have the freedom to do what they want with their bodies, and I support all Trans peoples in their endeavors to become how they feel.

It's true, it does.
The technology is too early to really be used much. You just can't expect much from today's technology in that aspect.
But if people want to do it, sure, why not?
Might aswell throw it out there for anyone wondering. Yes, I the OP am trans.

It's true, the technology is not advanced enough to take a person all the way to full transition, but why not let them go as far as they can?

It's really not, Female hormones effectively make you go through a female puberty and SRS is pretty realistic looking... most of the time :v:
I don't disagree with anybody using the technology now, but it's almost fruitless as it is.
It depends on your current appearance, so I wouldn't call it fruitless by any measure.
I don't think anyone has a right to tell a transgendered person they're shallow for wanting to change their body if they themselves aren't transsexual. I don't think you can fully comprehend the feeling unless you've felt it yourself.
If this is what makes people feel complete with themselves, makes them happier and healthier then why not
I don't care if people are transsexuals, and neither should you.
I don't really care if they are but if they try to force it upon me and try to make me accept them for who they are then they are going to have a problem. I don't care if you have a penis and wish it would disappear or a penis would magically pop out of your vagina and unfortunately I've had to deal with some people like that and I no longer communicate with them due to their stupidity about the matter. Not implying that all transexuals are like that fyi.

I love you.
i hear the post-op transsexual prostitutes somewhere in so cal actually look good enough to be the opposite sex that you wont even notice it even when your banging them. serious shit
I don't really care if they are but if they try to force it upon me and try to make me accept them for who they are then they are going to have a problem.
The only time I'd even have a problem with it would be if I was looking to date someone, things might get complicated.
But other than that, the actual sex of a person is irrelevant.

You call them stupid? The guy who abandoned his friend for being trans is calling them stupid?
There's a stereotype that most Tgirls are prostitutes.
Don't further that, please, it makes all of us look like cock cobbling cum guzzling femme dickgirl whores :c
man i'm happy the way i was made and i wish everybody else could be too
I'm transsexual and I wish I was happy being male. But I'm not, and the best way for me to be comfortable with my body is through HRT and SRS.
I didn't think there were so many people like this on facepunch.
I mean I have nothing against it, hell you are the way you are.
I don't got a problem with transsexual people, all I know is that I won't be dating one or screwing one. honestly, I see sex change as an incomplete, if the sexual organs does not function correctly like it suppose to do, then it's not really fully complete, it's like your 50% changed. Once technology improves to add the the functionality of the sexual organs and appearance look dead-like the gender it suppose to be, then I consider it to be complete.

To be frank, its been stated in medical studies that the cause of GID is currently unknown, and how many theorize that it could be the lack of hormones(male/or female) in fetal stage.
It's your body.
