• Best Intel CPU & Motherboard for $500?

Hey guys i'm wondering what would be the best Intel CPU And 1155 Motherboard for $500.
I wouldn't go for an 1155...that's 2nd and 3rd generation, and 4th gen is out. There's limitless options and configurations, but for raw power with many of the bells and whistles on a motherboard, I'd go with this setup: Motherboard - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8139496&CatId=8586 CPU - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8236897&Sku= Depending on what you're using it for, you could always get an i5 rather than an i7 and put the money elsewhere. But what I posted above is probably your best bet for under $500. I'm on 1155 with a 2nd gen i7 (2600k) and it still does the job great and I'm not planning to upgrade anytime soon. However if I were building a new PC, I would for sure be going with socket 1150 on the 4th gens.
I agree, go haswell. The motherboard of choice is the g45 gaming (with better sound) or the z87x-d3h (with more USB 3 and better BIOS). The processor of choice for gaming is the i5-4670k. The i7-4770k is recommended for builds that will be doing a lot of rendering, and it can actually hurt performance in applications with limited/singular thread count because core resources are shared. The 1155 motherboard of choice would still be the g45 gaming (the z77 version rather than the z87 version) and the z77x-d3h, and the processor would be the i5-3650k.
If you have a microcenter near you, GO TO THEM. You can get a 4770k + ASUS Z87-K for $390.
