"I used to be indecisive, but now I can't make up my mind."
I am indecisive. It actually took me a long time to realize and decide I was indecisive, but when I found myself struggling to choose a chocolate bar at the shop and wondering what to do on the weekends for hours I knew I had something getting in my way.
It's a real pain when you can't decide on things, but in some cases you have an excuse. If its a big decision like choosing what University to study at then fair enough, that may take a while. But if you find yourself spending days on simply choosing a movie to watch with friends then read some of these tips, because I know how frustrating it is wasting time rather than doing what it is you're deciding on.
Step 1. Take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Is this decision really life changing? Does it really need more than a few seconds to decide on? Sometimes the decision seems so critical, but thats because you need to decide at that very moment. Take a second to think if it's worth your time on this decision. If not, just go for it.
However, if it IS something larger that needs more thought, perhaps choosing a phone, then...:
Step 2. Make a table. Write down all the pros and cons of each choice, and give each one a weight out of 10. For example, if you make a table of one phone against another, A or B, and one of the pros for A is that it is cheaper, if that was a big pro you would put say 8 or 9. Do this for each pro and con and add up the total weights. Subtract the cons from the pros for each phone and see which one scores the highest.
That should help you to decide, but remember: sometimes either way you go you will end up with something better than you have now. That could be from choosing a house, phone, car, etc. In this case, either choice is positive and so you shouldn't worry TOO much.
Remember:
If it's something that affects others around you then you need to consider it a bit more than usual.
Share your tips! I still have trouble with making decisions sometimes, but hopefully these tips will help you too.
i don't decide
I can't decide whether to take your advice or not.
i don't decide
I used to keep off deciding for ages until the very last moment, usually by that time someone will have decided for me.
Get a coin, assign each choice to a side, then flip it. Because the moment it's in the air, you'll know what side you're hoping for.
Brotip: Then spend the coin on food.

What if I need to decide between 3 things? :smith:
how about you just decide

get a 3 sided coin :science:
This method you've brought up is even more time consuming than the initial moment of indecision.
If you are held up for more than 2 minutes on a moment of indecision over something as small as a chocolate bar there is something wrong with you.

If you read it you'd see the longer method is for bigger decisions.
And yes I know it sounds pathetic, but then you probably aren't indecisive
Wow this helped me a lot
I tried your advice but I lost a battle in Napoleon Total war thanks to you.
I do eeny meeny miny mo
i suck my ownd ick
Thanks, but it didn't really help me.
I think I'm just afraid to make a wrong choice even when I can't.
I usually just go "Eh, I can take the other later." When possible of course. This is useful for when not being able to decide.
Just tell yourself that it's not like you can't choose anything else later
I try to avoid making decisions at all costs...
Although usually my problem is just with stupid stuff like some asking "What movie should we watch?"
And then I panic and explode
Why is choosing a phone life changing..
Why is choosing a phone life changing..
It obviously isn't, but for most people it's going to burn a hole in the old pocket so the decision shouldn't be taken lightly.
when i try to make a decision i tend to over think things and drive myself crazy then i end up making a decision and i'm like "shit maybe i made the wrong decision, i should've bought the other thing etc"
for instance, i regret a lot of my purchases. i'm pretty bad at making decisions.
Mayonnaise or Ketchup? Oh the indecisiveness
If it's something minor like "What do you want for lunch?" I just say I'm not bothered.
Your example of a harder decision isn't great because with things like phones, computers, cars and even houses there's clear comparisons between them - hardware, size, price, is it on fire...
A better hard hard decision would be to do with people.
I usually find if I can't decide what chocolate bar I want I don't want one to begin with. Just sayin'
Do what I do.
"Fuck it, that one."

Did that earlier when deciding on Stromboli or Pizza.
I got Stromboli.
Indecision, can we fix it? No it's fucked.
always go left
always
It's easy, just drink a lot.
Deciding whether to rat a few of my friends out was a hard choice.
I'm impulsive.
Don't know if any of you know this already but, when you're making a decision your subconscious already knows what your going to choose, your brain has already made the choice. Making a quick decision is not that different from taking your time. So, OPs argument is invalid.
