Wikileaks.org is back online in the US after American company, Dynadot, has restored its DNS service for the whistle-blower site, according to internet reports.
Wikileaks was forced to move its website to a Swiss server earlier this month after the company that provided its domain name service resigned the business, claiming a sustained denial of service attack on Wikileaks was affecting its other business.
Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange was granted bail by UK judge Howard Riddle following his arrest to face sexual misconduct and rape charges. According to Reuters, Assange has returned to London's Wandsworth prison after an appeal by Swedish authorities.
Assange's supporters targeted companies such as Visa, Mastercard and Paypal for cutting ties with the whistleblower website after Wikileaks published thousands of US diplomatic cables.
UK national security advisors have warned that Assange's supporters could target key government sites as he fights an extradition attempt by Swedish prosecutors.
Extra security measures have been added to UK government web services, focusing on protecting information held about private citizens, according to the Independent.
The bail appeal will be heard on Thursday and an extradition hearing for Assange is expected on 11 January 2011.
god fucking damnit
And the world keeps spinning.
Haha, sauce.
To be honest, I think it's better for the organization to have the site up and Assange in prison than vice versa.
yaldi at first bit, fuck off at second
well it's partly good news
don't know what I said but BEING GLAD A WEBSITE THAT WAS TAKEN DOWN BY POLITICAL PRESSURE IS BACK UP is a bad reason to call news partly good I guess thanks!!!

Agreed. I imagine Assange having a trollface 24/7
Like I've said in the past, I support wikileaks, not Assange. He seemed like a dick any way.
Why do I have a feeling this all will end up with the "doomsday file" being published.
Like I've said in the past, I support wikileaks, not Assange. He seemed like a dick any way.
Even if someone is a dick you should care if they are being unjustly imprisoned.
Yes, because carcarcargo from Facepunch would know all about the personality of a mysterious Swedish man in prison.

He seemed obnoxious and arrogant, and to be honest he was just pulling wikileaks down.

I didn't say he should be in prison, I'm just not really bothered about him personally.
Yes, because carcarcargo from Facepunch would know all about the personality of a mysterious Swedish man in prison.
You evidently don't know much about him either if you think he's swedish.

Australian :engleft:
Assange is a tool, Wikileaks would be fine without him.
Everything else he's released hes said will change the world, and it hasn't, I still have electricity, and Africa is still full of genocide. His whole "doomsday file" is probably going to do nothing.
Assange is a tool, Wikileaks would be fine without him.
But if wikileaks was a faceless organisation, it would be easier to destroy. Assange mentioned that in one of the interviews, and I agree. Making a high-profile person disappear is infinitely harder than disappearing an organisation, especially if you don't want to raise much suspicion.

Example of a faceless organization that has yet to be destroyed despite high-profile activity:

On a different note, today's XKCD:

It is bad that the site is back up, but good that Assange is back in jail.
I dont know everything about Assange but I hope wikileaks can survive without his high profileness pushing it along

Dammit to hell.
At least it's back up. My stepdad's still pissed, but he'll get over it.

"Anonymous" is hardly organized.

Anonymous is not a faceless organization so much as it's a collection of idiots and impressionable youth that will literally revolt against just about anything.
