(...)
...huh. That's strange. Fourteen surface vessels plus navy helicopters haven't been seen since the Coup occurred on Friday. It could simply be a withholding of public information, but if the Admiral is still missing... it could spell trouble for Turkey. Or the rogue fleet. Provided that one of them is planning something.
This is very interesting. They couldn´t have vanished into thin air. They have to be somewhere.
They're probably refusing to go to port out of fear of being arrested. They know they could be arrested even if they played no part in the coup.
Oh yeah, just for reference guys, if this is true and they are all still acting out a coup against the government and military proper, that means that the Navy just lost more than half its ships.

i remember the report of the navy sailing out during the coup and nothing came of it.
i remember the report of the navy sailing out during the coup and nothing came of it.
There's been two reports that I recall. One about a large amount of naval ships sailing out when the coup was carried out, and one about the failed hit on the Admiral, which made him escape via boat to the closest Navy ship. There doesn't seem to be a conclusion to the situation of either.
Didn't the navy essentially condemn the coup anyway?
Didn't the navy essentially condemn the coup anyway?
Parts of Navy took part of the coup, but majority remained pro-government.
Well, pretty sure they are not fan of jumping from water into the frying pan even if they were not part of the coup. What I am curious is that where they might be or where they might attempt to land eventually.
I have a feeling that some people on that ship are on that list that has been mentioned.
They're probably making a run for it. Which country are they most likely to defect to?
They're probably making a run for it. Which country are they most likely to defect to?
If I'd have to guess Greece would be the first choice, Russia the second.
If I'd have to guess Greece would be the first choice, Russia the second.
Greece would arrest them extradited them back to Turkey in few weeks. Greece has terrible past with coups, so these navymen won't have a case for themselves. As for Russia? Only as last option. Pissing off Erdogan's government is one thing, but entire NATO? Yeah, they'd go for Romania or Bulgaria instead of Russia.
Maybe the navy predicted how the coup would play out, so they used it as a smokescreen to run away while condemning it to make them seem uninvolved
if they're actually going to seek asylum, where they can go kinda depends on which side of the strait they were on.
whats happening in turkey right now is like the plot of an ace combat game lol
It's impossible for 14 Military ships to be missing in this day and age. They and their crew have already likely sailed in to various ports looking for asylum.
What if they are preparing a resistance in case Turkey is definitely turning into a dictatorship and they pretend to be disappeared? Maybe is just me being an idiot, but what if they didn't escaped because they didn't wanted to get captured but because they are preparing a future resistance or something?

Naval ships don't get far without Fuel, Ammo, maintenance, crew rotation, and a clear ability to see whats ahead of them from a tactical and strategic PoV.
All they have to do is sail to a neutral port and stay there, Then the turkish government can't touch them.
today, still wanted by the turkish government they survive as sailors of fortune if you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them ... maybe you can hire the Atateam
This is straight up sounding like the plot of "legend of the galactic heroes" , but not in space.
US and russian governments probably know where they are, i imagine they had satellites watching the whole thing unfold
US and russian governments probably know where they are, i imagine they had satellites watching the whole thing unfold
Oh man, just imagine the rest of NATO secretly working together with Russia and what's left of the rebelling Turks to give one ginormous 'fuck you' to Turdogan by removing him and his kebabs from power and saving Turkey from becoming yet another islamist shithole in the process a major longshot, i know but holy shit would it be awesome
