• Server machine for streaming?

Hey everyone So as you might have seen before I have this hugely overkill server machine with 32gb of RAM and 2 quad core AMD opterons, and I was thinking of doing some twitch streaming sometime. The aim of this is to take the load off the gaming computer or any other source that I'll be streaming and place it onto the server machine via a capture card between the two systems, to then be compressed, encoded and sent to the twitch servers . Will this run better than on the computer itself? the gaming machine has an i7-4790k and 16gb of ram however it will be putting more load onto it while playing games thus affecting performance. If so, which would be the best operating system to run something like Open broadcaster software (OBS) on? Also, just to add, the gaming computer has a GTX 970 4gb, whilst the server machine has integrated graphics. I don't know if this would affect performance for things like compression. Cheers for any help given
Be careful of your power consumption from a server if you plan to keep it on 24/7.
Uhh. You have a i7-4790K. That's fucking god tier for streaming. What are your OBS settings.
it is indeed, however it will surely impact performance? My settings are Res: 1920x1080 fps: 30 bitrate: 2700kbps, crappy internet buffer size the same x264, CBR and CFR enabled man i'm such a noob, I'm still new to this!
yeah thats perfect, just remember to set up key interval frame in advanced to 2 seconds, also use main as well you can also bump it up to 60 fps and you still won't have issues also I stream at 2750 bitrate with 1280x720 60 fps at veryfast and it looks pretty damn good :) (and this is on a i5 3470)
thank youuu
You could use your i7's integrated GPU for video encoding (QuickSync) and there will be no performance hit. Don't need to go all the way to a different computer.
