• Whats a rig that can run all modern games?

I'm in the market for a new PC, but I haven't got a ruddy clue where to start looking or what to look for in a PC that can run modern day games at full or high. This current cardboard box of a PC can run HL2 at full with a steady 20 FPS. Anything like TF2 however, and the PC starts choking on the graphics. Not to sure about the specs, I'm pretty sure they're something like this though: Dell 220GB Harddrive XP Home Edition Version 2002, Service Pack 2 2.00 GB of RAM Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz 2.99GHz Thats all I can remember from a while back, but yeah. I don't particulary have a budget, just looking for something that I can game on without soaking it in liquid oxygen. Anyone got any pointers or ideas?
A budget would really help. If not, just aim for 800-1000 for a good computer. Any higher and it's just delicious gold plating.

my p4 rig with a 9600 gso could RUN all games so making a rig to run them should be dirt cheap
Jesus christ!. What do you get out of a $4000 dollar SSD that you couldn't get out of another one?
a shit load more space [editline]11:32PM[/editline] ninja'd
I have a 1tb hard drive in my $1200 computer D:
and that hard drive is not an SSD let's just break it down "what do you get from a $4k SSD" = 1TB "what do you get from a $4k 1TB" = an SSD
Don't bother with an SSD of that size. If you REALLY MUST have one, then get a smallish one for your Windows drive and a normal, cheaper drive for your files and stuff. [editline]01:16PM[/editline] Also, OP if you're just running Source games then you don't need a $1000 computer. Source isn't that demanding.
A good budget for all modern games would be somewhere between 800 and 1200.
If you ignoring budget go for an alienware pre-built rig http://www.alienware.com/microsite/m11x/m11x.aspx?tab=desktops
Well he may be ignoring budget but Alienware is WAAAAY too overpriced.
Why would u buy a alienware peice of shit.. its way to over priced for what your getting.. im spending about 1300 on my new rig.. and that incluseds everything i need for my tower and monitor... found this today on newegg... http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824112017 cheapest HD monitor i found
Build a rig. At least $550 for just the tower itself, not monitor/OS will get you a decent one that can run most games. AMD Athlon II's are good bang for buck, and Phenoms are just awesome.
No, a Xeon X3440.
sure like hyperthreading increases gaming performance
sure like hyperthreading increases gaming performance
You get the better multitasking in hyper threading and it is only 40 bucks more than the i5. Also it will overclock better.
