• Telstra 100gb contract expires in 6 months, family deciding whether to extend or ditch, need help

As the title says our telstra contract finally ends for internet even though its bundled with Foxtel and Telstra's phone service We cap 100gb all the time, well me and my brother simply because we are big downloaders and the slowdown is fucking annoying so I was looking at alternatives. Before I begin, TPG, Optus and iiNet are out of the question, while these guys are good, this is a telstra dominated estate/exchange, also their off-net plans suck so it's fucking stupid, so I was looking at something called ClubTelco They're offering $60 for residential unlimited internet (apparently no throttling), along with $50 membership fee and its month-to-month, looking at reviews it seems like the customer service is shit but the connection is great apart from unlimited cheap telco's like dodo. So I was wondering if any FP'ers have been or are with this mob and to see if they're worth considering for Other alternatives would also help Cheers guys
Go up to 500GB telstra plan?
I've heard of club telco before. It is exactly as you said there, crappy customer service, but a decent connection. It's really up to you guys what you do for it, but my friend who is on them, recommends them.
Just remember reliability with Telstra is pretty much as good as you'll get in Australia. ~10years or more with them here and not a single day without a connection. Kind of impressive. I'm on a 500gb plan with them right now because the area I'm in is also dominated by them.
Go up to 500GB telstra plan?
Dad's considering either 200gb or 500gb, whatever is better with the bundle (and is cheaper) [editline]4th July 2013[/editline]
Depends entirely on area.
Our area has a Telstra exchange, the wiring is Telstra even though my parents were lied to by real estate people, they said the whole area would be fitted out with Optus cabeling and we'd have fast Optus Cable when it was made available, what a fucking joke Also we're currently on ADSL1/2 (no clue they don't really tell us because they always change their mind) because our exchange is outdated, according to Dad they started upgrading the exchange for ADSL2+ so currently we are being billed on Telstra's ADSL1/2 service, when he upgrade or switch we'll be (hopefully) upped to ADSL2+
Why does Australia suck so much dick when it comes to internet connections? How is New Zealand?
Why does Australia suck so much dick when it comes to internet connections? How is New Zealand?
As my Dad has said, we take it up the ass when it comes to telco's, nobody really protest on the street about insane pricing and unfair deals, because nobody can be fucked. When people take action we can get our way, vodafone had some of the shittest reception ever, people took to consumer watchdogs, the media and social networks in protest about this, also a huge boycott was organized where people went with Optus, Telstra or Virgin. Eventually vodafone listened and started constructing and upgrading existing towers
