• Making animated GIFs

For making animated GIFs, there was a single program I used for about 10 years. It doesn't work with the latest operating systems. What's the standard modern way for making them? Is there a tool built in to Windows that can do it? I can't just Google it because there's so much malware out there posing as tools these days. This is what I totally need for a new avatar if no one steals my idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-ZjYq8-SHw&feature=player_detailpage#t=156s

If you have a copy of Photoshop CS3 or above, you can go to File > Import > Video Frames to Layers and import a .AVI, .MOV, and some other file formats. As for extracting that video, you'll have to get YouTube ripper or some other desktop recorder that will save the video as one of the Photoshop supported formats. Best of luck.
Use this to download the video and convert it to avi. Virtual Dub can import videos, optionally resize and clip them, then export them as an animated gif.
Didn't realize VirtualDub could do it. I have everything I need then, thanks!
