I just recently built a decent, low price machine for about $800. The specs are; Intel core 2 quad CPU 3 gig of RAM Nvidia GeForce 9800GT Windows XP Service Pack 3 I just bought Crysis and was wondering if my computer could run it.
I'd say it'd run just fine if you put some time and efford into finding the right graphical settings. Just aim for an average of +40fps and you should be fine.

How "recently" did you build this machine. You could have done better.
I just bought Crysis and was wondering if my computer could run it.
Why don't you just try y'know, running it?
No.
Why don't you just try y'know, running it?
This.
Yeah. You can run it. You sure can't max it out with high resolutions. But yes, you can run it.
Probably be stable on high settings with a 1680 resolution. No aa though.
Yep, it will run. One question though, why XP?
res? what C2Q? ddr3 or ddr2?
res? what C2Q? ddr3 or ddr2?
I fail to see why DDR2 or DDR3 would matter.
I fail to see why DDR2 or DDR3 would matter.
its a factor though that could change the outcome
its a factor though that could change the outcome
No it's not. Whether he has DDR2 or DDR3 isn't going to make a dramatic change on his gameplay.
All high in the 1680x1050 and lower range, no anti aliasing at about 30 FPS.
Yep, it will run. One question though, why XP?
Why not xp? Why spend 100$ to get windows 7 premium when you can wait another year (unless you enjoy xp) Oh yea, two people say 1680 resolution with no aa. So then that might be considered recommended settings.
Why not xp? Why spend 100$ to get windows 7 premium when you can wait another year (unless you enjoy xp)
Wait another year for what? Windows 8? Then Windows XP fanboys would say, "Why spend $100 on windows 8? Just wait another year..." Windows XP is soon to celebrate is tenth aniversary. Yes, its almost 10 years old and people still insist its better. This is almost as bad as the windows 98 fanboys still raving about it in 2007. Microsoft has ditched it. Whether or not that was a good move, its done. They're not upgrading it anyore so that you are forced to buy vista or 7.
I think you could run it, but you gotta turn off your AA and AF for better FPS. i think the FPS will be hovering around 25-35 on 1680 x 1050 or 15-25 on 1920 x 1080.

My friends is a Q8300, BFG 9800GT and it plays farcry2 all maxed on 1920x1080 res. Crysis isnt much demanding more than farcry2, so you shouldnt have a problem.
all high (not very high) with 2xaa @ 1440x900, depending on which core 2 quad you have.
