Dallas Pee Wee league coach fired for supporting 'ineligible' player
A Texas coach who came to the defense of his 12-year-old player who was told by a Pee Wee league that he was too big to play, has been fired.
The Mesquite Pee Wee Football Association ruled that Elijah Earnheart, at 6-foot-1-inch and 297 pounds, was not eligible to play with fellow seventh-graders due to his size.
Marc Wright, Earnheart's coach, came to his player's defense, he was told by league officials he could no longer coach. Wright said the league's president let him go because of the uproar the ruling created, and told him he was out of line.
"It makes me feel bad because I call myself supporting one of my players," Wright told MyFoxDFW.com. "The same guy who let me go told me this is what you are supposed to do as head coach. You are supposed to support every single one of your players."
wow.
To be honest, I don't really disagree. The league rules say no more than 160 lb

Actually, 135lb for his grade
I can understand them removing the kid from playing, but firing the coach is really a stretch.
I have to wonder what the kid eats to be 300 pounds at 12 years old.
wow.
I knew a kid who was at least that size when he was 12. Pretty sure he went on to be a (American) football player.
I remember reading this article much earlier. I blame the kid because he was recommended to play for a school league but didn't because 'they weren't his friends' and that he wanted to gain experience. Yeah, lots of experience on the bleachers and making your coach look like the bad guy for letting you stay.
kids sports are serious business
let the kid play, don't fire the coach over something so trivial.
Hey fat kid, you're out here playing sports and trying to be active, lets just take that away shall we.

Well it's not like he's obese (he's probably overweight) he's like over 6 feet tall.
Kid reminds me of Michael Oher

He could seriously injure the other players.

Hes 12 yet hes taller and weighs more than most adults do.
Would you say its acceptable to have adults playing on young kids teams? Because there would be little difference in terms of physical power between those two.
How the fuck is he so tall so early.
I was 5 foot 10 inches at age 12. Not quite as big as this kid but I understand how he feels. There were a lot of things I wasn't allowed to participate in as a child due to my height. For example I was 5 years old and was too tall to play at the playgrounds at McDonald's, it may not seem like a big deal now but as a kid it sucked.

But were you 300lbs? That's one of the more interesting parts of this kid - he's an animal.

I was nowhere near that weight. So yea this kid could be a linebacker for the Dolphins or something at age 12. But still I can see why the coach would defend him. I understand it.

Opposing Pee Wee league players, I assume
Maybe they can let him play in on e of the older leagues, if he's good enough.

Based on the video I think that's what many coaches in his area are offering - but I think he mainly wants to be on the same team as his friends.
He's gonna be a fucking monster when he grows up, but that's not a bad thing. If he's got the skills needed, he could have a career in football.
Is that kid Sonny Liston or what? 6'1 and nearly 300 pounds is crazy for a 12 year old kid.
I'm 5'9 and about 140 pounds....and I'm almost 17
wow.
For a 12 year old 6'1 is really tall. And so is 300 lbs.

It'd be easier to list the things he doesn't eat
That's unhealthy.

Come on, he's twelve years old and just wants to play with his friends. Maybe there's good reasons he can't, but don't turn this back on the child.
I like the way the icon is Xbox.
Also this is terrible.
