Fuck, I remember playing the old Mafia 2 demo on the Xbox 360 and loving it. Hopefully this one will consume as much of my time as 2 did
Cool I guess. Demos are a blessing in today's "let's make a mediocre game at full price and hold the reviews until release" era in gaming.

Then again the demo is a bit late now...

This is at least 2/3rds of that scenario you gave.
The problem with this demo is that everyone who cared about the game on release knows about its many, many flaws from YouTube already.
tbh if the demo isn't doing what Just Cause 2's did, you won't impress me.

and by that I mean just giving a raw taste of the game, 100% unbiased and not artificially polished just to make it seem like the ~real deal~ is that good.
If the game is good and the demo truly represents the game without lying, the demo worked

The JC2 demo was also fucking huge as far as demos go. It was enough to keep my penniless younger self entertained for quite a while and the rest of the content was worthwhile enough for me to spend money on it when I was actually able to.
the halo combat evolved demo lasted for at least a decade

Couldn't you also CheatEngine the game to void the timer and go outside the play area?
I think I've played the Dead Rising demo on 360 for longer than the actual game would have held my attention, that and the Skate 1 and 2 demos.
