NEW YORK — A New York Police Department cop jammed his ring finger under .38 revolver's hammer to save himself from being shot in the gut. Sergeant Michael Miller and Officer William Reddin were patrolling when they noticed the beige Lincoln Towncar speeding on Quincy Street near Malcolm X Boulevard. The cops also noticed that one of the passengers in the back seat, Eugene Graves, was making suspicious movements near his waistband. Miller felt the gun underneath Graves' clothes when he reached towards his waist. "He told him to put his hands behind him, and that's when he started to fight," the New York Post quoted a police source, as saying. Graves pressed his Taurus .38 revolver into Miller's stomach, but Miller grabbed the gun, and put his right ring finger between the gun's hammer and cylinder to prevent Graves from firing a shot. "This guy pulled the trigger so many times he broke the sergeant's finger," a police source added. Uniformed police officers quickly arrived on the scene to overpower Graves. Graves has been charged with attempted murder of a police officer, assaulting a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance, menacing, and resisting arrest.
Source
Even on most toy guns that really hurts, but it's better than getting shot.
Wow, he had some balls and brains to react like that.
Lucky break
Sounds like something out of an action thriller :v:
That's badass.
I knew I was important.
This is what police officers train for. The Warrior instinct. The fight or flight reaction.
smart cops, nice.
Anyone else think of this?
Anyone else think of this?
I did and I cringed at the thought of getting shot in the middle of your finger . Thankfully I was wrong in thinking that way.
Like a fucking Jakie Chan movie. [editline]10th October 2011[/editline] Badass.
Like a fucking Jakie Chan movie. [editline]10th October 2011[/editline] Badass.
I've always loved Jackie Chan movies where he does shit like this. Considering he actually does it, you can just see all the pain. Film making dedication like that is always better then CGI crap and fake props.
-snip-
Can't you also hold the cylinder to stop it from firing?
Can't you also hold the cylinder to stop it from firing?
Unless it were open, the mechanical force would probably be greater then the guys grip.
"This guy pulled the trigger so many times he broke the sergeant's finger"
Fucking owwwww
Can't you also hold the cylinder to stop it from firing?
Probably, though this is a definite way that will stop it no matter what
I doubt he knew what he was doing when he grabbed the gun, I'd say his first thought was to grab the gun and move it away from himself, and after the guy tried to pull the trigger he realised his finger was saving himself.
He was really lucky. I agree with hiccuper.
That's gonna be one hell of a story to tell your grandkids.
Imagine going to a class reunion. "Well I'm actually pretty good in the hot dog business, I sold five hot dogs today!" "Eh I just sell model airplanes, I actually sold twenty yesterday!" "I jammed my finger under a revolver's hammer to prevent being shot while also getting my finger broken by said hammer :smug:"
Fucking owwwww
Better a broken finger than a bullet in the gut.
Fingering things has saved my life more then once.
