I haven't really had much issue with uPlay, do people hate it?
Because when it does have problems it's gonna be a real pain in the ass.
I had to reinstall Uplay about 3 times when trying to play Far Cry 3.

Because it's there. People don't want extra software running when they're playing their games.

you get extra software none the less, like direct x update and microsoft redistribution stuff and other small "pre-requitements"

But the difference is that stuff is actually required to run the game, whereas Uplay is just another level of pointless DRM, especially if it's being played through Steam.

That's not software that's being processed alongside that game. That's stuff the game uses.
