Touko Laaksonen (1920-1991) worked as an artist for various ad-campaigns, and created homo-erotic drawings during his sparetime, which have now become famous all over the world. His art had a great impact on the modern LGBT-culture, and he's one of Finland's most famous artists. Not everyone likes the idea of equipping their letters with suggestive artworks, however. "We don't want our country to be represented by homo-eroticism. By tradition, our stamps have been based around themes that are aesthetically pleasing, or have been of great cultural value to our nation. Homo-erotic themes fit into neither of those categories." - The description of an Internet-based petition which about 2600 people have signed as of yet.
http://hd.se/helsingborg/2014/04/14/homoerotiska-finska-frimarken/ http://www.dn.se/kultur-noje/protester-mot-finska-frimarken/ Some of the stamps that may be used: [T]http://capdesign.idg.se/polopoly_fs/1.557033!imageManager/1369936285.jpg[/T]
Well, truly interesting and unique stamps for sure.

Yet Finland doesn't officially recognize gay marriage yet
What real man wouldn't put pics of manly butts on their letters? I suspect Finnish rust players to have no problems with these stamps.
these stamps are awesome

Someone avatar the butt stamp.
I guess it's time I started collecting stamps...
Someone avatar the butt stamp.
this has to happen. but who fits the build?

So is Finland known for having weird stamps?
I would be tempted to actually send letters again only to be able to plaster them with these stamps.
Why is this accepted?
Why is this accepted?
Why not?
I want to get a sheet of those butt ones. And frame them. Just to hang on my living room wall.
Why is this accepted?
Odds are you wouldn't raise a fuss over a stamp with someone motorboating some great big bouncing jubblies, so what's wrong with a daring depiction of someone lovingly nose-nuzzling a hunky great bum?
Why not?
Because if a stamp had a man fondling a woman, or a woman showing off her melons, it'd be seen as distasteful or sexist, or crass, or what have you, and rightfully so. So why is it acceptable with mild gay porn?
Who the hell cares? It's a stamp, it's not like you don't have a choice out of like a million different stamp styles? Or are people afraid they're going to get mail from their gay uncle or something and be like "oh shit there's a dude's ass on my mail, i'm being forced to question my sexuality!!"

Nice
Nudity does not equal porn. A naked man cradled within the legs of another man with a porn 'stache is porn.
I fail to see any porn in the above images [editline]23rd April 2014[/editline] Also there are plenty of stamps that have bare breasts on them jussayin
Arguing semantics. The stamps clearly depict big muscly men about to go wild with each other's schweens. It might not technicaly be porn, but it's still not tasteful, and at any rate it's still boner fodder. A stamp featuring bare breasts isn't awful by definition, as breasts on classic paintings or icons aren't sexual in nature. A dude with his face buried in another's schlong certainly is. This is the equivalent of having a stamp featuring a man with his arm wrapped around a topless lady about to get it on, or a girl biting a condom with her teeth. Those would result in an outrage.
well tbh any kinda outrage for the vaguely porny side of it is completely meaningless compared to the outrage you get from homophobes and right wing fuckwits, which is of course hilarious on every level

ew.
Yeah they should have used this one instead.
Literal meaning to fuck this gay earth.
Yet Finland doesn't officially recognize gay marriage yet
Because marriage is a function of the church, not the state. We don't have the same separation as America does. Strangely enough, we manage to be fairly secular, yet America has the separation of church and state, and Americans are trying to kill their country just so they can follow their fucked-up religious laws. But hey, at least we're working on gay marriage. The church is about to find out a nasty side-effect of taking in taxpayer's money - when you take money from the taxpayers, you have to do what the taxpayers say.
There's also a movie about him in the making.
