I don't understand what's so interesting about FM, not trolling, I'm genuinely curious.

You have to have a passion for football.
Basically it's the achievement of taking a low football club to the heights of winning the league, cups and continental cups by masterminding tactics, etc.
You also have to go hunting for "regens" which are the talent of the future and find the next best players.
Regen:

They generate randomly, random names, faces, etc. It's awesome to find one then raise them up as a club legend, or even sell for profit. It's what this game is about is managing finances, etc. I have a brazilian regen I bought for £900k, and he got up to about £40m becoming the world's best player three times.
Pretty much, cant imagine why anyone who doesnt love football would be interested in it.
But for those like me, who play football, watch football, its perfect.

I have no interest in football, but I find FM really entertaining. Maybe because I have thing for overly complex games.
I never understood why no one has mashed up something like Football Manager with FIFA and made a hybrid.

They have. Total Club Manager.
Stopped around 8 years ago though, because it completely undermines the FM side of things.
FM is all about setting your team up to give them the best possible chance of winning.
If you can control that as well, it makes the rest of it pretty redundant.
Fifa doesnt need that level of depth. It does need a lot more than it currently has though. Career mode is awful and feels like a group of friendly's in a row.
They developed a 3D engine for FM though. It's like watching runescape really :v: I think they just want to gradually get the animations and gameplay looking perfect before they venture into making it graphically good.
