A New Zealand man and two others sentenced two-and-a-half years in prison for insulting Buddha in Bu - Polidicks

Notice the people there run a bar, and judging by the picture, were going to throw a party. You can imagine that certain conservative groups are anti fun and "insulting buddha" is probably nothing but a convenient way of finding something illegal to charge them with.

The government of Myanmar is known for their religious extremism so this isn't a surprise. Not all Buddhists are "peaceful".
