China set up its air defence identification zone on Saturday. A US colonel said the planes had followed "normal procedures, which include not filing flight plans, not radioing ahead".
China: "NOBODY GOES BEHIND THIS LINE" *America tiptoes the other end of the line with one foot* China: >:C
So are we Russia now?
If you want to break air space rules is there a classier way to do it than with the 'Big Ugly Fat Fucker'
Whatcha gonna do, China? Ya punk?
If you want to break air space rules is there a classier way to do it than with the 'Big Ugly Fat Fucker'
Do it with a missile-armed C-5 Galaxy?
Freedom of Navigation exercise. Called it.
Do it with a missile-armed C-5 Galaxy?
Nah, Cessna 172 with AIM-9's.
If you want to break air space rules is there a classier way to do it than with the 'Big Ugly Fat Fucker'
No the B52 is perfect, its not like they snuck a stealth plane in.
I wouldn't be too surprised if we've already got a carrier strike group en route.
If you want to break air space rules is there a classier way to do it than with the 'Big Ugly Fat Fucker'
If I had a choice I'd fly it through too. [T]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ee/B-52H_static_display_arms_06.jpg[/T]
B52's are fucking ridiculous... Its giant as hell... HOW COULD THEY NOT SEE IT
Should of armed it with a nuke, just to make the situation that much more tense.
What kind of armaments is that middle cluster?
Looks like JSOW. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AGM-154_Joint_Standoff_Weapon
What kind of armaments is that middle cluster?
You know how a revolver has the bullets in a cylinder? It's like that, only with bombs.
China: YOU SHALL NOT PASS. US: I'm sorry what was that? I can't hear you over the sound of me not giving a flying duck.
What you do is you get a Taiwanese chopper manned by an american crew in japanese uniform, fly the chopper juuust over the border and have the crew break-dance while pulling the finger and pouring oil off the side.
What kind of armaments is that middle cluster?
A package with candy and gifts for the holidays.
What you do is you get a Taiwanese chopper manned by an american crew in japanese uniform, fly the chopper juuust over the border and have the crew break-dance while pulling the finger and pouring oil off the side.
Welcome to World War 3
China: YOU SHALL NOT PASS. US: I'm sorry what was that? I can't hear you over the sound of me not giving a flying duck.
But they did give a flying fuck. A very large and noisy flying fuck.
China: YOU SHALL NOT PASS. US: I'm sorry what was that? I can't hear you over the sound of me not giving a flying duck.
The US should purchase a Tu-95 from the Russians so nobody can hear anything :v:
A US colonel said the planes had followed "normal procedures, which include not filing flight plans, not radioing ahead".
I can only imagine how smug this fucker must of been saying that. :v:
America loves to stir up shit.
Quickly, someone set the Doomsday clock to 23:59!
I wonder who got that idea. It's like someone high up went "Hey man, did you hear? China got a new air defense zone. -Let's fly a B52 through it"
A few of the most influential countries in the world fighting over a group of 5 islands and three ROCKS. What am I missing here, huge oil reserves? Or is it really just dick waving about an issue that has been going on for such a long time that all parties involved don't even care anymore except that they MUST GET THEIR RIGHT. [editline]27th November 2013[/editline] And how was this a good idea to begin with. If China would have shot down the B52 (and, technically, even if they claimed the airspace without real acceptance from other countries, they would have been right, I mean a military aircraft in restricted airspace not responding to any radio messages could be a grave danger) shit could have massively hit the fan right? As the analist in the post mentioned: "For seven decades the US has been the dominant military power in the region. China has given Washington notice that change is afoot. Peaceful management of that change is one of the great strategic challenges of the 21st Century." Flying military aircraft in restricted airspace must be the way to go!
one has to wonder what enemy exists in the airspace between tiwan and Japan that China needs to repell... I mean look at that they just drew a circle around the gas field and said "mine!" [editline]27th November 2013[/editline] the worst part is all these islands are not just contested by China, Japan Taiwan Indonesia the Philippines Vietnam and south Korea all lay claim to these contested sparely inhabited islands [editline]27th November 2013[/editline]
Freedom of Navigation exercise. Called it.
training mission and the pilots charts were outdated, that's the official spin anyway
A few of the most influential countries in the world fighting over a group of 5 islands and three ROCKS. What am I missing here, huge oil reserves?
Basically like this if I've got it right: China first discovered the islands centuries back and used it as a fishing outpost. But eventually it seemed to have been forgotten. Somewhere in the late 1890s Japan annexes the island. After WW2, and the signing of the peace treaty China/Taiwan expected the islands to be returned to them, since they were annexed. But instead it was given back to Japan. In a UN survey done in 1968 it showed that the area around the islands contains oil. According to many people it was after that survey that China and Taiwan started to dispute the Japanese ownership of those islands. (note: the islands were under US administration until 1971, so the China&Taiwan started the claim after the end of administration) So how come it seems to appear in the news so much lately? My guess is that shit hit the fan when the Japanese purchased the islands from private owners in 2012, that was also when people flipped on the Chinese streets. They have been trying to "fix" the issue though:
The issue of sovereignty has been carefully circumvented in bilateral fishing agreements. In the 1997 fishing agreement, the Senkaku Islands were officially excluded from China's exclusive economic zone, but in a letter of intent Japan explained that Japan would not prevent Chinese boats from fishing there.

In 1969, the United Nations Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East (ECAFE) identified potential oil and gas reserves in the vicinity of the Senkaku Islands. During subsequent decades, several rounds of bilateral talks considered joint-development of sub-seabed resources in disputed territorial waters. Such efforts to develop a cooperative strategy were unsuccessful. In 2008, a preliminary agreement on joint development of resources was reached but the agreement only includes the area far from these islands. In 2009 a hotline was agreed to (and in 2010 a military-to-military hotline), neither of which have been implemented.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senkaku_Islands_dispute#Alternative_approaches [editline]27th November 2013[/editline] Also on the whole thing about air defense zones. It's nothing new and has existed for decades. Japan has extended their zone twice, once in the 70s and once in 2010. The latter expansion caused it to overlap with the Tawainese ADIZ. Japanese ADIZ Where the Chinese and Japanese ADIZ overlap http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Defense_Identification_Zone_(East_China_Sea) One could question why China would setup the zone in a time like this, unless just to provoke. But airplanes flying over the airspace of other nations is hardly anything new, and I don't really see the fuss. [editline]27th November 2013[/editline] For everyone's sake I hope their future confrontations will never be as serious as this one:
The most direct confrontation to date between the countries' official vessels occurred in September 2012. Seventy five Taiwanese fishing vessels were escorted by ten Taiwanese Coast Guard vessels to the area, and the Taiwanese Coast Guard ships clashed with Japanese Coast Guard ships. Both sides fired water cannons at each other and used LED lights and loudspeakers to announce their respective claims to the islands.
:v:
