Hello, i'm a starter airsofter. I'm hopefully going to join the national guard. What is the best middle budget gun out there? Is it the G&G M4? What kind of gear should I use?

The G&G Combat Machine is pretty much the go-to gun for starter quality and cost. Don't get the electric blowback version though. I have that exact vest but in black. Pretty good but it takes some time getting on/off. It's comfortable enough though.

Yeah there's a wonderful huge ass megathread that we laboured over to answer most questions that any newcomer would have to the forum.
When considering camouflage clothing and such, take a look at the environment you will mostly be playing in, and try to go from there. Unless you are looking for a specific look, then go for that!
