I already have some RAM I got for free, DDR3 8gb. I have a corsair tx650 psu, and a geforce 9800gtx+ that I am keeping for now. Mainly for gaming/school work/video editing.
Not the best with computer hardware, but here is what I came up with
$230 cpu i5-3570k ivy bridge 3.4ghz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504
$130 mobo gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128543
$40 case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146075
HDD ????
I don't know whether to get a SSD or regular HDD. I have a 320gb that has some slight errors that I could use in sync with the SSD until I buy a new one. But are SSD worth it?
I'm buying this as soon as I can get the build ready. And I have all the peripherals (two monitors, speakers, mouse, and keyboard)
Thanks, and would all of this fit in the case I linked? Looks like it will to me, just want to be sure.

Easily, mid towers can fit ATX boards and long graphics cards.
Generally. Some mid towers get a bit cramped if you are trying to put the latest bricks in them, but if you are spending 500 dollars on a GPU, what are you buying a 50 dollar case for?
Because its seems like more expensive cases just add more fans and LEDs. I don't need LEDs and have my own fans
It was a somewhat rhetorical question. Your GPU isn't 500 dollars.
680s, 7970s, and the like, often have problems fitting into cheaper cases. You don't have those, so I can't conceive of it being a problem.

I buy mid-atx cases all the time. They fit fine with new cards. I had two 670s in one and worked great.
Thought I'd upload a photo of the rig. Runs ice cold, and the wire management is great.
