Apologies if this has already been posted/covered/etc. I looked back a few pages and saw nothing. If this is legit, I'm actually stunned. UPDATE: Confirmed. Order the Imperial Edition to play as Imperials (exclusive race) on any faction. Pre-order any version to play as any other race on any faction.
I hope nobody plays this game. Let it fail, let them move on.
The real question is: does the mudcrab pet talk?
Really? I can get a mount being collectors edition reward, but a race? *Squint*
I'm sure the statue and artbook will be superb, but that's pretty shitty that the Imperial race would be limited to people who pay the extra...well, however much this edition costs.
I want one of those statues. Normally, I'm not much of a merchandise guy but I would really like that statue for my own.
I, for one, have no problem with this.
I could literally span out a couple of paragraphs on why the game's shit, but I won't. Instead I'll just say that if you do decide to buy/try this MMO. You might as well go play fallen earth. Because they're the exact same thing (mechanics wise).
I don't give much of a shit about the rest. Cheap statue, giant art book, vanity pet, whatever, normal shit. But they're hogging the fuckin' Imperials just so they can charge extra? Not cool, dudes. Not fucking cool.
can someone please explain what the fuck the point of ~exclusive~ shit actually is? it literally just looks like you're shitting on whoever doesn't want to buy an over inflated version of your product " W-We'll take the imperials from them! T-That'll show them to not like our game!"
I hope nobody plays this game. Let it fail, let them move on.
it just looks like another point and click slow grind game, aka give it a few months half a year tops and it'll go freemium due to people realizing it's terrible
I wish TESO had a Mudcrab race. I'd just go around being a prick to low level players, and in PVP Zones, I'd use my ability to burrow to go down, and act as a landmine. But this landmine ain't aiming to kill, just to maim whatever chance these MMO players had of a virtual sex life. The real meaning of "getting the crabs" :v:
Maybe if they allowed any race in any alliance I would've given it a go. Part of the Elder Scrolls fun is choosing your own path. You ask for 2-4 player co-op in Elder Scrolls, they give you an MMO. Not a wise choice.
For $5 extra, the horse gets armor.
Let's be honest here, this isn't the first bad decision they have made with this game. This game is pretty much going to have to go freemium to survive. I just hope this doesn't screw up any possibilities for future Elder Scrolls games.
For $5 extra, the horse gets armor.
Goddamnit I was just going to post this
I'm still maintaining hope that this somehow won't be terrible. I'll probably play it to feed my hunger for Elder Scrolls lore even if it is.
Pretty sure the Imperials are playable without it, it says play as the Imperials in any alliance. Looks to me like they remove the alliance-limitations on the Imperial pigdogs.

I know other games probably did it before that, but WoW was my first exposure to it.
I'm still maintaining hope that this somehow won't be terrible. Since Imperials as a separate race weren't a thing until the Warp In The West (the end(s) of Daggerfall), it sort of made sense.
not cool, even blizzard never did anything like that because they want everyone to be able to play all races so ideally they have an even distribution (humans and orcs still dominate the player races significantly)
This is kinda scummy thing to do. Imperials are an important race, so why have them exclusive?
Gonna tell you my little secret: I now call TESO as TESOtanic.
A lot of people aren't reading the whole thing. To reiterate: Imperials aren't an exclusive race. The exclusive bit is that you can play as an Imperial IN ANY FACTION. The vanilla game only allows Imperials in certain factions.
They either were going to split the continent in two or in three. Five would have been too much. There are 10 races. Do the math. There is only so much you can do to make it even. Letting everyone mishmash would be missing the point as well, how then could you tell one faction from another?
So is the imperial a race or a class? If it's just aesthetic I don't really see why people get upset, especially if the class is still available for all players in its regular faction. If it has exclusive abilities its a different story, ofcourse. Then you're looking at a possible case of pay2win. Regardless, I think TESO isn't a very interesting game. It seems like they're trying to hop on the WoW-MMO bandwagon half a decade after the bandwagon fell apart people stopped caring about third person hotkey-MMOs. A crying shame they couldn't just develop a classic Elder Scrolls game with coop/limited multiplayer. You know. The shit fans actually asked for.
I seriously hope this is fake. Like I would understand if it's a Dwemer race or a Snow Elf race but not the fucking imperials.
Id probably care more if imperials were cool but theyre not, so :^)
hope it's fake either that or bethesda are rapidly running out of even the poorest reasons for anyone to buy their game

From everything we know so far the precedent set by this would be that the only way you can play Imperial is through the collectors. To reiterate no factions have playable Imperials.
