http://store.steampowered.com/news/10962
We have released an update to the Source SDK, bringing support for Mac OS X and Linux to mod developers and exposing the ability for virtual reality support in your mod. The biggest change with this update is that we are using github to host the source code.
GIVE US HALF LIFE 3 NOW YOU FUCKERS
Oculus rift support?!
Not shit hammer?
Most interesting tidbits from new codebase:
The source for this new SDK release includes the latest code for all the included games, and has many new features: • The games now build and run clients on Windows, OSX, and Linux. Dedicated servers are supported on Windows and Linux. • Steam Pipe (the new Steam content delivery system) is supported by the sample mods. Existing mods can change their gameinfo.txt to match the new format and gain Steam Pipe support. • Support for Virtual Reality via the Oculus Rift has been added to the SDK. Running a compatible mod with -vr on the command line will run the mod in stereo and enable head tracking on the Rift.
Woo, more linux support from developers using source :D
Well that was really nice of them
"Support for Virtual Reality via the Oculus Rift has been added to the SDK."
Now for the sadists out there to make mods and maps with jump scares..
Now for the sadists out there to make mods and maps with jump scares..
Don't seal the map and view that trippy ass effect.
Oh fantastic. I wonder how long it will take for mods to be ported?
Now for the sadists out there to make mods and maps with jump scares..
It's the other mods I'm worried about.
Taking sex poses to a whole new level.
It's the other mods I'm worried about.
worried?
I actually want to play darkrp with a rift. Could be pretty weird.
This is the update our engine needs.
This is the update our engine needs.
But this isn't an engine update.
Maybe Hidden Source will get transfered to sdk 2013.
In the README they refer to this as "Source 1 SDK." It's interesting that they feel they need to make the distinction between Source 1 and 2.
This is the update our engine needs.
The physics engine is probably still shit though.
"To build the Source SDK 2013 on Windows you will need Microsoft Visual Studio 2010. "
I hope Black Mesa team will use it to release a new version of their mod for Mac and Linux. (preferably with Xen)
"To build the Source SDK 2013 on Windows you will need Microsoft Visual Studio 2010. "
hi welcome to C++ development on windows [editline]26th June 2013[/editline] vs2010 express is free fyi
hi welcome to C++ development on windows [editline]26th June 2013[/editline] vs2010 express is free fyi
""#error : You must install VS 2010 SP1" when compiling. I download it
"To build the Source SDK 2013 on Windows you will need Microsoft Visual Studio 2010. "
Yeah, that's a given for any triple A game engine for Windows and/or Xbox, really. VS Express is free anyways.
""#error : You must install VS 2010 SP1" when compiling. I download it
Did you install SP1?
""#error : You must install VS 2010 SP1" when compiling. I download it
If you're having issues with such a simple thing to fix I highly doubt your ability to mod the engine. Regardless, take it to the programming or modding sub forum.
In the README they refer to this as "Source 1 SDK." It's interesting that they feel they need to make the distinction between Source 1 and 2.
Because they're different engines?
2013 sdk does that mean we will get some of that sweet sweet csgo lighting??? Oh man cant wait to get home and try this out
So is this the tool's source code or the engine's?
Its a new sourcesdk base.
