under settings on my router, there's automatic config - DHCP, and static ip
when you select static ip there's boxes where you can fill in an external ip, is there any chance this would change it, or just screw it up?
It would just screw it up. Your ISP would need to give you it. PPPoE and all of that stuff eliminates the need for setting that.
