Shipping Woes or how I learned to worry and hate the postal service

I'm sure everyone has had their share of shipping services making them pull their hair out.
Right now my current gripe is with DHL Global Mail, and the fact that the status for my Small and easily lost item (A Playstation Vita Memory card) has received no status updates since it left Newegg's warehouse, and the current (Read that as "Five day old") status comes up as being in " , , US". In addition, the USPS tracking they gave me comes up as not found.
To put a cherry on this fundae, they haven't responded to any of my emails, and their phone service is useless. Newegg tells me to contact the carrier, which I guess I can't blame them for, but dangit this is making me mad.
So,
Anybody else got similar shipping stories to share? Might as well make a thread outta it. Tis the season, after all.
It's the weekend. Postal services generally don't work (a lot) in weekends.
You don't seem to gripe that most postal service will not touch your item during the weekend, unless you pay an enormous saturday shipping fee.
5 days(I should say 3 business day) is barely enough to fret in your situation, most carrier will not give updates on tracking number for small items.
Most of my worry stems from the fact that the tracking number provides invalid data. And I've always gotten updates before even for small items.

Tracking numbers are weird for when they start working.
Ordered Saturday air shipping on Amazon. Thought it wasn't much of a biggie since it was only 10 dollars as I have amazon prime.
Those fuckers trucked it from Kentucky to Tennessee, then delivered it by Air to the distribution center ON SATURDAY NIGHT. Goddamnit Fed Ex.

I ordered a Nexus 7 from Amazon with faster shipping through UPS.
UPS got it from Amazon, to their distribution center, to an airport, over the ocean, to Finland, and through the customs, in 2 days.
Customs is a pain in the ass to deal with, and they had no problems with it.
My 3DS arrives tomorrow. So excited!
If it doesn't arrive, I will hate the postal service like you. Although its Canada Post and I've come to love my country's postal service.
A UPS employee stole my friend's Nexus 5 last week. He eventually got refunded but he has to wait until January before Google can ship him another. Makes me worry about the security of postage.
hahah hheheh you all first-worlders don't know shit about bad postal services. let me walk you through importing pretty much anything from anywhere to Argentina, using the national postal service since using private couriers (FedEx, DHL etc) was banned last week:
-You buy the thing, and make sure to tell the guy to give you a shipping code (important!) and kindly ask him to mark the package as a gift or set the declared value to something low-ish ($30 is ideal). Your credit card company also charges a 35% fee on any overseas purchases because why not.
-The thing takes way too goddamn long to get to the country, often twice what the origin country's postal service tells you
-The thing gets stuck at the customs office where it is opened/scanned to check it's value and stuff. It's also in this step where an alarmingly large amount of non-tracked parcels and a bunch of tracked ones get outright stolen by the postal service. If that happens, you can often get a refund or a reshipping from whoever you bought it from, because the PS doesn't take responsibility. And this step can take weeks, on top of that.
-Rarely, the package arrives at your house, and that's the end of it. Most likely, you get a note from the postal office telling you that you need to go pickup your package at the local customs office (there's about one per large city or so). Also they charge you for every day it stays there after they send that, because why not.
-The customs officer checks the package, and charges you import tax, which is either 50% of the declared value (plus shipping, if you're dumb enough to say that the shipping isn't part of that value) or he can be in a shitty mood, "suspect the value doesn't match the item" and charge you 50% of the value of the item, against local prices. Most customs offices don't have anywhere to pay them in, so you get a paper to make a deposit with at a local bank, then come back, pay some other minor fees, and get your package.
The funny thing? It's still cheaper and therefore worth it, with all of that, to buy stuff overseas.

I ordered an Ipod Shuffle from Amazon back in 2008.

Im not really worrying considering it is coming from the US
My worries seem to have been totally unfounded, as I'm currently holding my item in my hand.
That tracking info really set me off on a worry train though.
Yeah, I like how UPS can hand stuff off to the postal service. the tracking showed the stuff going to my area, then going down to Washington DC and Maryland before coming back to where I live.
i've waited a month and a half to get a shirt from merchconnection before. shit sucks, but what are you going to do?
I would've thought UPS tracking would work.
I've ordered stuff from these Chinese webshops, and they always give you a tracking number ~ and that's kinda it.
You usually have to scour the site to find what postal service they are (probably) using, and then HOPE that the tracking service actually works
It usually doesn't.

I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street.
All I know is that first, you've got to get MAD.

So idk give them a call or something?
I ordered some small stuff off ebay once and got it nearly a year later. Completely forgot about and it then one day it arrives. I'm like "wtf? who sent me a present? I love presents" and then when I open it I realize what it is and where it came from.

You should no more be using the USPS tracking system, unless your own country also have USPS.
Try the track & trace on your local post services.
I ordered a PSVita from Amazon with 2-day shipping, and didn't get it until like a week later. UPS shipped the thing across the country, then when they got to my town (their warehouse is literally a 5 minute drive away), they handed it over the postal service. UPS SurePost is absolutely terrible due to the post office being slow as hell to deliver.
Kind of annoyed lately, mum keeps pestering me and my brother to look out for the postman. I really hope whatever she ordered arrives tomorrow but it reminds me of last year when I ordered a dress on Christmas day and it didn't arrive for 2 week afterwards. I usually opt to deliver to my workplace now instead just because the delivery times are usually when people are at work.
The only time I've ever hated the Australian Postal Service, I work as a Warehouse manager, one of our selling stuff guys came in and asked how to get something to another city overnight without paying out the arse. Anyway, Australian Express post has never let me down and this is the only time it was actually urgent. It got lost.
The only time. Try explaining to a customer that he can't continue with his business because the thing he paid for was lost.

Once, I shipped a game to my cousin (From Arlington, TX to Beeville, TX) which is about a 6 hour drive down a single highway. Should of been quick and easy. I used UPS because USPS was more expensive.
They shipped the package from Arlington, to fucking NEW YORK CITY, then to Boston, then Tennesee. My cousin finally got the game 2 months later.
Only real issue I've had was my package went from California (where it was shipped from), to New Jersey, to Nevada, and then back to New Jersey and finally to it's destination in New York. :v:
Well if you see that there are no updates in the UPS tracking system for like at least 2-5 days, then I would recommend on contacting customer support. Since the package is usually at the depo, or lost somewhere. I work there, so I am dealing with this shit usually.
