I would so play an old school Diablo game on a gameboy.

Hell I'd play a newer styled one on the current gen handhelds if it was like Torchlight 2 or the older style Diablo, I'd love for a game that good on the go.
Huh, a Diablo-like on Game Boy Colour? Hmmm, if they did something like that, they'd probably have made a fair bit of money; I dunno how much memory the average GBC cartridge could handle, but if there were random loot in that kind of handheld Diablo, might've made a trading scene like Pokemon had (and probably still does in Japan).
Despite my hesitance to indirectly finance Activision (Blizzard's in bed with them under Activision Blizzard, and I presume some of the cash Blizzard rakes in goes to fuel Activision's infernal engine), it'd probably be really awesome to have a Diablo-like game on a handheld gaming console, though being that the handheld gaming scene is all PSP, 3DS and palmtop computers like iOS and Android nowadays, I dunno how Blizz would get a game like that into the handheld market.
Besides, come to think of it, how'd the game even work on a handheld/smartphone? Probably touchscreens or the analog stick, though that might not work so well.

They have this game on the 3DS called Heroes of Ruin but I couldn't help but feel it was a meh version of Torchlight so I never really played it past the demo. There was the Untold Legends series or whatever on the PSP but it was pretty static and stale too.
Interesting; what exactly did they do wrong? By what you said about Untold Legends being "static and stale", I assume you imply that there isn't much variety? That's perfectly understandable; a change of environment can shake things up and make it look better for longer, I think.
I would totally buy Diablo Jr for the 3DS, Android or iOS.

Well, if you want to quench that thirst for a diablo-like on Android/iOS, there's Dungeon Defenders on both of them.
